this n00b again

okay i may be a nub at this, but i've been trying to figure this out for about 30 minutes. i thought it might be faster to post here.

how do you do this?

i see an optio for select notification sound, but the file i want to put is not shown there.

Open messaging, menu/settings/scroll down to notification sound/select it/select sound
Edit: just read your last part. Use your file explorer, find the audio you want to use, copy it, paste it in you "notifications" folder. Forgot exactly where it is, I think under media?

oh yeah i knew that i meant like.

is there a way to set the sms text message a different tone aside from notifications?

like are all notifications going to make the same noise?

you can set one for email via the menu options in email, and one for msgs in the messages menu options in the msgs app.

this allows you to set something different than the generic tone set up via the main settings menu.

you can also try other messaging apps like handcent...that allows you to customize the notification sound for each contact. i love that
