Default voice commands.......voice text messages

Is anyone able to send text messages (IM) using voice commands like what is shown on the video in the phone?

When ever I try, whatever I say ends up in the message body the "to" field is always blank.

i get it to work by first saying "send text to (name)" , of course it's not 100% perfect but it works about 70% of the time, then i speak the body of the message.

Yeah always start out your commands with what you want to do with it. So "call (enter name here)" or "text (enter name here)"

the only app i have seen read text messages is the blue ant spear box app that you download when you buy a blue ant wireless gadget for your car, it reads your texts to you when your driving.

Long-press on the message in Handcent (free in the Market and my favorite), select option to speak the message to you.

I will highly recommend getting SwiftKey. Not only in my opinion it's smoother, has a nicer layout and has amazing predictions and learns as you text more, but also has almost mistake-free Voice-To-Text option with just one click. It costs like $2 on the market but it's probably the best app i've ever bought. Even Swype isn't as good as SwiftKey. Will never go back to the regular keyboard.

I was having the same problem and it seems that it's quite common and frustrating. What's happening is when you use the voice search, Google just looks for contact info in your "my contacts" instead of "all contacts". To fix this, simply add all contacts to the Family or Friends groups, reset the device and try again. You might need to resync your Google contacts also. Hope that helps!
