When ever I use most of the applications on my phone including email and the internet, when I close out of them or hit the home screen button the screen goes white showing the green HTC logo on it then it loads like it would when turning the phone on. It will then displays the grey box that says loading with the spinning wheel thing. I figured maybe it was a memory issue so I do clean the cache regularly and that doesn't seem to help. I also us a task killer set to take care of the apps that do not need to constantly be running. As far as internal storage I have 236mb free with some apps stored of my memory card to help save space. Any information on this would be of great help. Its something that over time has become a real pain to deal with.

I noticed this after upgrading to GB 2.3.
I also ran. Memory boosterthinking that would address it but didn't work.

I am having the same problem after doing the upgrade from HTC. I am surprised there is not a long thread on this issue. Did you ever find a reason?

My phone did this and now sprint is ordering me a replacement phone. I hope that it isn't refurbished because I heard bad things about sprint refurbished phones.....

Ive had many issues with this phone, the thread topic being just one of them. Im due to get my third phone from sprint tomorrow for another issue unrelated. I just wish they would let me have a different type of phone.

I have the same issue on my EVO shift. Unfortunately I bought my phone after the Gingerbread release and cannot root my phone. All the apps that I can move to the SD card have been moved. I do not use Advanced Task Killer. There are two toggle widgets on my home screen (wi-fi and mobile network). I suffer from the same loading screen sometimes when hitting the home button. I have found that turning the phone off daily and turning it back on seems to help reduce the frequency of seeing the loading screen. It is just a temporary fix, but maybe it will help you out.

I left this issue on the HTC web site support page. Below is their response. I performed Item 1) and 2), and the issue seems to be gone! We'll see if it comes back after a while, but after 24 hours the issue is still resolved. If it changes, I will post an update.

It is now 6 days later and my issue continues to be resolved. These first two steps are easy to perform with no downside. I can recommend it without concern.

I apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing with the loading screen when closing applications. I will be more than happy to assist you with this issue. We are aware of some users who have given us feedback about the loading screen on the phone. We are investigating this as a top priority, and will take the appropriate actions to find a solution for you. In the meantime, we can perform some troubleshooting that have been reported to reduce/resolve this issue.

1) I would first recommend to perform a soft reset. This is done by powering down the phone, remove the battery for at least 30 seconds, replace it and restart the phone. This will clear the cache on the device.

2) Also clear all background data from the Sense application. Select All Apps > Settings > Applications > Manage applications > HTC Sense > Clear data/cache.

3) If the issue continues, I would then recommend to boot the phone in safe mode for testing purposes. First verify that Fast Boot is not enabled, select All Apps > Settings > Applications or Power > Make sure Fast Boot is not selected. To enable safe mode:

1. With the device turned off.
2. Press the power button.
3. Once the device turns press and hold the volume down, once you see the splash screen (HTC quietly brilliant).
4. Press and hold the menu button (DO NOT RELEASE THE VOLUME DOWN).

You will know it has worked because the device will give a brief vibrate or 3 quick vibes. Once it loads you will see on the “Safe Mode” on the bottom left of the screen. Does the issue continue while in safe mode?

First, I think everyone should be forewarned that clearing the data/cache from htc Sense will clear your custom layout on your phone (icons, background & theme etc.).
Secondly, I myself was struggling with the HTC logo & white screen everytime I went to the home screen or clicked out of some apps, so I thought it's only fair to share my resolution. I did indeed clear the cache & reboot the phone as mentioned above & after I finished resetting my icons etc. it was working fine, so I went to the web and started browsing (imgur!) & after 10-15 minutes as I click on the home icon, KABOOM the wait screen is back, which is when I realized that the phone cache just got loaded with cookies/data/crap which was causing this, so I went to apps/running apps & clicked on Internet & cleared the Data (it does clear the bookmarks as well, so prepare for that)now the phone works fine.

Bottom line is to make sure that the cache doesn't get clogged with data which will cause it to slow down. It's a hassle but keep it clean to keep it efficient.

P.S. I didn't want to root my phone while still in warranty (will get to that once i'm out).
