Notification/Status not working

Wife has an Sprint EVO Shift 4G running stock Android 2.3.3 and HTC Sense 2.1. The phone is not rooted and has almost no downloaded apps.

Notification/Status bar is missing and notifications selection in the Menu from the home screen does nothing. No apps were downloaded at the time this disappeared. It is not that you cannot pull notification bar down it is not there at all.

I have no tried landscape but it seems off that the menu selection does not work even if the bar is not visible.

Any suggestions?

That is a weird one... I have never heard of a disappearing notification bar! Can you get to the notifications through the menu hard key? ( I assume so) and try a reboot....
