Default [ROM] Harmonia 3.17 17Nov12 (ICS\Sense 3.6)

Latest version:Version 3.17 17Nov12

About the Aphrodite Family:
Harmonia, daughter of Aphrodite, is the immortal goddess of harmony and concord. Aphrodite was known for her beauty and the goddess of love, all things this rom embodies. The Aphrodite Rom started off on the Optimus V and evolved into Harmonia and then spread to several other phones.

The idea of the Aphrodite line is pretty much a bare rom, based or as close as possible to what a stock rom should have been, that you add your themes and such to (there is beauty in simplicity, which is what lead to the name). You won't find any bloat, what is here is here because it needs to be and not much more. This allows you to create the phone you want without anything you don't want or need. Just a lean, mean phone, your way.

Warning
While I do all I can to ensure my roms and things work properly, things do happen, so use it at your own risk.

Download
Note: You do NOT need S-off, to use this, but you do need root. If you are S-On you will either have to stick with the stock kernel (which works fine just a touch slower), or flash in two parts using 4EXT.
Harmonia 3.17 Donate here if you feel inclined to brighten my day.
Md5-a9509fd7aedf7c34ff4c842ac29452de
GooManager users can download and install right from the app (wipe everything)!
Updating from 3.13 and later should work, updating from earlier may create issues. If you have a problem, try a fresh install before asking questions. Be sure to wipe cache and Dalvik if updating.

WARNINGS And Known Issues!!!!
Updating has been known to create issues!
Don't be surprised if the install takes 6 or 7 minutes, or if the first boot takes 3 or 4 minutes.
To upgrade from any previous version of Harmonia 3.x, wipe cache, system, and wipe Dalvik, then flash. You may lose some storage, so as always do a backup first. If you have issues, do a complete wipe. All others do a complete wipe (which is always recommended for everyone).
Wireless ADB (doesn't work)
Some of the statusbar tweaks may not work or may not work properly, I can't do anything about this. Anthrax Kernel could crash the rom if you use it due to the Leedroid (quick setting) tweaks.
Don't mess with power management through the Hidden Settings app or in Leedroid, you won't accomplish anything except waste your battery.

NEW in 3.17

Updated SuperSu and Play Store.
Usage.apk and Taskmanager.apk restored - no more errors.

Notes:
Thanks to all of the OV devs who helped me get this far with this sort of stuff.

TWRP 2 and GooManager... GooManager (included in the rom) is an update utility that can download and flash roms and recoveries. However it needs TWRP 2 recovery or a compatible recovery. If you go into GooManager, and go to settings, "download opensource recovery", it will download and install this recovery for you. This is entirely free and more secure than some other, similar, update methods. If you switch recoveries, check that the recovery works and make a backup before you go flashing away. Make a backup before changing recoveries, then after. This way you know you have a backup for each, and no TWRP 1 backups are not compatible with TWRP 2.

I had the same problem when I tried to install over an older Harmonia. Just do a full wipe and install. I don't know the exact problem, didn't really have the time to troubleshoot, but full wipe & install fixed it.

I had the same problem when I went from 3.10 to 3.12. It sorted itself out after a few reboots.

Fav ROM atm.... But I have one tiny small microscopic problem... My data keeps going in n out on this Rom... Like switching back and forth between 3g and 1x when its never done that before... So today I'm going to run some diff roms to c if harmonia 3.12 is the culprit (didn't have this prob on 3.10) or these storms we've had down my way these last two days... Be back with update later today....

Harmonia is well over a month old, it's just new here. This was one of the very first Evo V roms.

As for Romulus, I suspect that is probably taken.
My roms initially followed a naming pattern that follows the family tree of Aphrodite. However that changed when Harmonia became a major rom on the Optimus V. Instead of following generational names, I stuck to Harmonia for the lead rom because people associate it with me.

As for the "guys", I don't think my roms are girly. I try to keep them pretty neutral. Trust me, there have been times you almost ended up with lace here and there.

Well I have finally read through your goal for this ROM and it matches up with my tastes too. Eventually I will get around to trying out some other ROMs and this one will be on the list.

I like the fact it not only works with TWRP2, but has added functionality with it. I would have a hard time going back to non-touch recovery like we had on the Triumph. TWRP2 is slick.

Thanks for all of your posts in various threads. I am sure you have helped many people in solving their problems.

I introduced a bug to the build.prop (somehow it reverted to an older one) and it's confusing Goo Manager. 3.12 is the latest, so if you have it, ignore what Goo manager says.

Goo's site believes 3.12 is the newest, but once installed on the phone, it then believes you have 3.10 installed.

I am working on an update which fixes this as well as a few other little things (wrong image files, SU update, remove non-working dsp manager, move a few files around... ). It won't be a major change, just minor tweaks and updates, so if you are fine, there will be no need to update. I am also changing how I handle the build prop which will make it easier to see what version you have installed.

Should be up later tonight after I finish some testing.

3.13 posted.

Maintenance release.
Updated SU
Corrected some images
Removed non-working DSP
Shuffled a few files.
Device ID back to Evo 4g for compatibility reasons (didn't work as planned)
Also changed build.prop to fix Goo issue, and will now display Version in about phone.

Updating from 3.12 should work, updating from earlier may create issues. If you have a problem, try a fresh install first.

No, you weren't booted when it was installed.

Most mods are just overwriting the framework file, which is an issue because the framework on this has been changed a bit.

Your best bet is to either mod this framework with the mod you want's files (not THAT difficult really), or wait for someone to patch this framework with what you want.

You also might get UOT Kitchen to do it, but I'm not sure.

I love seeing the GooManager notification stating that a new ROM update is available! Thanks!

BTW, Leslie, you ever try the Anthrax kernel with your ROM? I have yet to try it but was curious.

I would love to but apparently you need an Act of Congress to get activated over there.

Currently using your OV rom on my girls phone, any rom you make just WORKS.

IF anyone wants a stable rom...get this. Leslie is an amazing rom author.

Due to a kind mod, I finally got access over there. Installed the latest version without wiping and it looks good so far. Will probably wipe this weekend just to be safe.

Anthrax didn't work for me, tried the last 2 builds 2.8a and 2.8b and it boots fine, but I am unable to turn on Wifi and I can't clock the CPU higher than Stock....the overclock options aren't even there in SetCPU or System Tuner.

See what Faydes wrote?
That is why you won't see Anthrax anytime soon.

My roms aren't always the very fastest, or have the most features, but I strive to make a fast, clean, functional rom that just works. I often equate them to Hondas and Toyotas... They aren't as cool, fast or flashy as a Ferrari, but you can always count on it to get you to work every day.

I let others push out the experimental stuff, while those roms grab the headlines, many of the users fall back onto my roms. While mine may not win as "favorite rom", there is probably just as just as many running Harmonia as are running those other roms, if not more. It's not even my own favorite rom (it's boring and predictable!), but I run it because it simply works like I think a rom should.

As for Anthrax, I have tried a few roms with it, and they run fine on my phone (even massively overclocked), but it's not for everyone (especially when the devs overclock it from the start which is a VERY BAD IDEA!) and I prefer to make a more stable rom.

It's there and appears to turn on.
On another rom where it works on the phone speaker you can hear a difference. Maybe it does, maybe not, either way, I prefer not to get peoples hopes up.

I spend most of my time in homes and offices with Wi-Fi, and 4g isn't good while driving so it doesn't really matter to me.

That's crazy, I get about 10 megs with 1 bar of 4g and I'll be lucky if my 3g hits 1.6 megs with full service lol

Tell you what folks, since this thread is about the Harmonia ROM, let's not argue about benchmarks and whether they are worthwhile or not. If you want to do that in a cordial manner, make a new thread to discuss that please and keep any personal attacks out of it.
