Default [PATCH] SOS M | VER 2.6.1 | *VMshooter MMS Patch*

NOTICE: THIS ROM IS NOT MY WORK. This is simply the MMS Patch that allows MMS to work on out Evo V's.
Now that that's out of the way, let's get started...

This is the MMS Fix made for the Swagg3D Out Sense ROM, made by swagstr. I am simply posting the patch along with a link to the original ROM. AOSP MMS does NOT work, meaning that you will have to use a third party app to use MMS. This is a bug within the SOS ROM and is not fixable by me.

WARNING: This patch only works for swagstr's SOS M ROM

Downloads:
Original SOS M ROM Post by swagstr

MMS Patch VER 2.6.1 by Me

Instructions:
From original post:
BEFORE INSTALLING - READ THIS:
Don't use SetCPU, to change clock speed, edit this file: /system/etc/init.qcom.post_boot.sh (lot's of things to change in there btw - always make a backup)
Don't flash anything for Gingerbread or Jelly Bean... this is Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS or Android 4.0) (LeeDroid Tweaks 4.0.3, old themes, old kernels)!

1. Download SOS v2.6.1 from the Original Post above
2. Download the MMS Patch
3. Copy both files to the root of your SD card

If S-OFF
  • Flash both zips in your favorite recovery, SOS ROM first (choose your desired options in the Aroma installer), MMS Patch second
  • If not using MeanROM ICS or a previous version of SOS M, choose a SUPER Data Wipe before installation
  • Done! If you have boot-loops re-wipe manually and re-flash - don't restore anything and see if it works.
If S-ON
  • Flash SOS ROM in 4EXT with Smart Flash on (choose desired options in Aroma installer), then flash MMS fix
  • If not using MeanROM ICS or a previous version of SOS M, choose a SUPER Data Wipe before installation
  • Done!

*Credits*
First of all, swagstr for making the ROM, duh. Go give him a thanks on his OP here. Next, to krowley3, for giving out instructions to fix MMS on Evo 3D ROMs. MMS would not have been possible without him. Finally, to jmz, for making the stock ROM, which is where I got some of the files to fix MMS.

Contribute (from Original Post)
Team Swag is a small project that wants to keep your EVO bad ass. Please donate as much as you can below!

All donations are appreciated greatly!!!

Notice: Donations DO NOT GO TO ME. Just want to make sure nobody thinks I am taking donations for someone else's ROM The donation link goes to Team Swag.

Happy Flashing!

Want a ROM Ported? Send me a PM with the ROM name and link. Only catch is that it must be Sense 3.6 based
Raul720 and phw8558 like this.

Whoops, sorry for the confusion, edited it a little. This is simply a patch for the SOS M ROM to fix MMS for our Evo V's. Since I cannot repost the whole ROM, I am simply posting the patch.

Yeah, extremely sorry man for that confusion. I believe the ROM is supposedly "non-Sense" but it is still based off of a Sense ROM, MeanROM.

Can you mirror the patch somewhere else??? I keep getting this:

{"INFO":"failed posted hashcheck","SOLUTION":"please make sure you have javascript enabled for androidfilehost.com. Hit the back button, enable javascript and try again please. we promise we are probably not doing anything nefarious. maybe. no promises though."}

Sure, OP updated with a Dropbox mirror. Also, when downloading from Android File Host, make sure that you click the big green download button, and don't open it in a new tab or window. If you do it may give you that big long error about javascript. If it still isn't working, just use the mirror

No, this would not. This is only for the SOS M ROM because it is based on its framework. If you have a ROM that you would like to be ported, I can take a look at it and give it a go. It just has to be Sense 3.6 based. Just give me a link.

Thank you Chingling, flash it on sos rom, works like a charm.

Any chance looking into fixing mms on asop rom? DT cm9 is the fastest rom I've used so far, and I really wish it could be more functional. I tried editing build.prop and replacing the apsn in framework-res myself but mms still doesnt work. Guess need a sense base mms.apk too.

I probably couldn't. I might take a look into that, but it seems difficult. Probably gotta wait till someone more experienced took that job, I heard jmz is coming to work on that stuff.

Currently Mobster's MIUI has SMS working, you just have to use an alternate SMS app, like Go SMS. The other Sense based MIUI on XDA doesn't have MMS working without an APN settings setup...your best bet is probably Mobster's MIUI.

HELP!
I Installed SOS Senseless ROM, version 2.4.5, flashed the MMS patch, but MMS is still not working with me!
Sucks cause SOS ROMS are by far some of the best ones Ive used for the Evo V 4G.

Exact directions on what I did:
Backup, flash SOS Senseless ROM, everything went smooth but I booted up the phone by accident. Went back into recovery, turned smartflash on and flashed the MMS patch.

MMS does not work in the AOSP app, edited OP to display this. Make sure you are using a third party app like Go SMS or similar. This is a bug within the ROM, of which I cannot fix.

Hmm, not sure. You could try finding the MIUI launcher somewhere and replacing your current launcher's APK with the MIUI launcher's. I personally do not use this ROM, so I would not know.

Dammit xD
I could have sworn I read that the patch would fix MMS!

Do you know of any ROMs, either from EVO V 4G or Evo 3D, that are sense-less and are stable? Meaning as little bugs as possible. Preferably one that has MMS working?

I HATE Sense with such a passion dude!

haha

MMS works fine. You just have to use an app like goSMS. I sent and received an MMS message just fine immediately after using this ROM. GoSMS is superior to the stock messenger app anyways.

It will work with SOS 2.4.5....from the looks of things, the most current version is 2.4.5 on XDA, so yeah it will.

so if i update to the new version, mms will break? it would need a new patch?

Edit: Nevermind I just updated to the latest Rom, and MMS is working.

Technically, the only reason it wouldn't work would be if swagstr made updates to the framework or the build.prop. Those are the only two things that I changed. It seems like swag didn't make any framework changes, but I still will be updating soon.

I've been trying to fix MMS on other ROMS, but it seems this only works on SOS M. I know, you specified it on the OP, but I would just like to know your procedure to fix the MMS on SOS, and maybe I'll be able to figure out how to fix the MMS settings for other ROMS. Can you tell me the instructions you are following?

MMS fix I got here:

After I did that, I pulled apart the framework-res.apk and swapped out the apns.xml from JMZ deodexed rom framework-res.apk. What made it easier on this rom is the fact that it is already based on the Virgin leak. There maybe something else in there that could prevent it on other 3D roms but in theory other roms based on that leak with the above modifications should work. All those changes may not even be necessary, but all I know is MMS works and there is nothing that I can find not working properly in the rom.
Sorry guys, gonna try to get to updating this when I can, been really busy lately.

I have a Virgin Evo V that is rooted and S-off with HBoot 1.04.2000, TWRP 2.2.2.0, PRI 2.17.651, Radio 1.13.652, and Harmonia 3.15 ROM. I was under the impression that this combination would fix my MMS woes, but it has not.

I've downloaded your MMS fix, and am downloading SOS M 2.6.1. I see that I need to update HBOOT to 1.4 or better.

In order to streamline the process, Is there a preferred HBOOT?

Also, is the HTC 2.17 or 2.89 kernel preferred (I realize these are HBOOT dependent)?

I'm currently using Handcent SMS, but might give GoSMS a shot since it seems many like it.

Thanks!

This patch is only for SOS. I believe its compatible with the 1.04 and 1.4 and up, I use 1.04 personally. Kernel comes with the ROM. Just download the ROM from the XDA OP, flash it, then flash my ROM. Swag is working on compatibility with our V's in AROMA, so that'll be awesome.

I have a couple of questions (about problems I'm having) about this patch. Sorry to bring the thread back up if it isn't being watched.

I just recently got a Sprint Shooter flashed to VM, and everything is working except MMS. I installed everything as instructed, and I still get nothing.

The phone was on the newest OTA update (2.89 kernel, 1.58 HBOOT) and I unlocked it, rooted it, S-OFF (so now I have 1.58.5858 HBOOT) and all that fun stuff before installing SOS.

At first I installed SOS with the super data wipe and just leaving the 2.17 kernel, but that messed up some of the flashing work, and I had to install the 2.89 to fix it.

I tried the patch after that, and no success. I reinstalled SOS without the wipe, and left the 2.17 kernel, repatched, and still no MMS.

Any idea what the problem could be? Does the patch only work on the 2.17 kernel? Should the patch be installed before booting SOS after it's installed?

(As a side note, I just checked the kernel in the About menu, and it says I have 3.0.16-g4211684, which I see as the VM 2.89 kernel, unless I'm getting things confused. Does this mean the 2.17 didn't get installed when I reinstalled SOS?)

Not sure if you'd be able to answer all of my questions, but help would be appreciated :3

ext4 refuses to flash your patch. Any idea why?

EDIT: Nevermind. I got it now. Had to reboot and let the ROM load, then go back and flash the Patch.

Still not able to receive MMS, though... With HTC MMS or Go SMS.

Hmmm....it does sound like the ROM wasn't flashed correctly there. What recovery are you on? Make sure that the ROM installs correctly, depending on recovery it might not be installing the correct kernel for some reason. Other than that I don't know what to tell you. Sorry man.
