Have you tried here? LOTS of great info jam-packed, and easy enough for even ME to understand!

Also, Here is a link to the step by step guide for rooting the Evo V.

Complete Newbie's Guide to rooting and flashing Evo V 4G ROMs/Kernels using fastboot

Read through that and ask any questions you might have. It's better to understand everything before you get started than to get stuck in the middle.

I had a question and figured I'd post it here rather than making a new topic.

Getting the 3D on Virgin Mobile today, I've had the Motorola Triumph for about a year and flashed various roms. I dont plan to root/flash it right away as I want to get as much info as possible since it seems like the 3D is alot more complicated than the MT or Optimus V.

Getting to my question, does all these guides & roms that reference Sprint 3Ds work with VM3D's as well? Is there anything I should be aware of when reading a guide or rom page that references a Sprint 3D when applying such changes to my Virgin Mobile 3D? In the long run I want to swap PRL, S-off, and flash a ICS rom.

As long as you follow this thread:

The "Fix everything by turning your phone into an Evo 3d" thread

You'll be able to flash sprint roms onto your virgin 3d (Evo v 4g) with the exception of mms not working in some cases.

Otherwise you could go here for virgin based roms:

http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-all-things-root/

Although during the rooting process, you'll definitely want to reference with this guide:
