Best small external speaker?

I'm looking for a good external speaker (small one). Any recommendations? I tried one in a WalMart, but it didn't work at all.

An external speaker, like just a pair of speakers that have an aux for your phone?

I just bought a pair of ihome speakers from a T-Mobile store. They are fantastic, great sound, compact, and easy to store. They are also rechargeable.

The x-mini is the smallest and best looking of portable speakers, also rechargeable, and still sounds pretty good.

Amazon.com: Altec Lansing iM-237 Orbit Ultraportable Speaker for MP3 Players (Silver): Electronics

The altec lansing is the best sounding one, but it is bigger and uses AA batteries.

The iHome is probably somewhere in between, rechargeable but better sound than the x-mini, also slightly bigger.

This is from what I've read from other people's reviews but I've only heard the x-mini in person. Even though the x-mini is supposed to sound slightly worse than the iHome or Altec Lansing, I still thought it sounded great, and the small size makes it easier to carry.
