List of Fascinate Themes/Roms 11/28
Edit 3/28: I will no longer be maintaining this thread or my themes on AF...its too time consuming to double post here and on XDA and everyone is seemingly on xda.
Lovely .
You know all jokes aside I was just wondering about something like this. And Im glad you made it because if you didnt I probably was going to
Believe it or not I waited till tonight to finally flash jt's clean rom on. So now I can actually try out some of these themes. Previously was running Blue Minimalism 2.0.
Thanks saps love this ROM. And while I normally look long an hard before claiming something is fast and want to make sure its not just a placebo effect this ROM is differently very snappy and fast and the window animations are sweet. I always had window animations trued on and wonder what was animated. No more thinking about it with the ROM very sweet my fav so far.
BTW that drop box link is dead. Does he have it on XDA? I'll go look but I can never find anything on that site :-)

So are there any rules regarding what kernels will work with what ROMS...I am just now getting around to playing around with this stuff.
Not sure this answers you question but if you have a genuinely stable kernel it should be will work on any ROM. The inverse is also true, a stable ROM should accept any stable kernel.

Agreed, I flashed it this morning and it is noticeably snappier and has been very stable (so far). It feels faster than the 1200LV I've been using the last couple of weeks...

Yeah speaking as a former voodoo proponent this is amazing and beats voodoo in terms of real world speed; forget quadrant scores. This kernel is the truth.
So I'm thinking of trying out JT's Kernal. I could use a little guidance so i don't screw things up too bad.
Would it be better to completely remove Voodoo (Like flash to stock kernal with Odin), OR just disable voodoo (by creating a folder). And once I'm back to stock/disabled do I just go through Rom manager and download a JT's "NON-voodoo" kernal, selecting one of the available release dates....and Rom Manager will essentially take care of changing things over??
Also, Am i understanding it correctly when I say that ROMs are "themes" (i.e. change appearance, layout, status bar, etc.) and Kernals are what's running beneath it all? So if I wanted to add a ROM I should select one of the "super clean" roms which should work with JT's Kernal without Deodexing first? or do I have to Deodex regardless? (whew, quite a lot to consider).
Thanks

Lot to process here. First, jt still does put out voodoo kernals, if you dont wanna mess with the uninstall. If you do decide to uninstall follow the directions in post #1 here: [How to] Completely Remove Voodoo Lagfix - xda-developers.
ROM's per se are not themes. If you just want a theme you can DL themes and there dozens out now if you merely want to change your UI. ROM's are about what programs and apps are on/in your phone. If you pick jt's clean you will be de-odexed. Its kinda nice, like one stop shopping

Just one more thing.
Is that link for removing voodoo the same thing for removing "Dirrk's" oc/uv? Because I remember reading that you had to remove the voodoo lag fix before applying dirrk's kernal. I went straight from stock to dirrk's.
I just don't want to go through extra steps if there was an easier way.
- Disabled Dirkks voodoo OC/UV by creating a folder on my sd card.
- went to ROM MANAGER and downloaded JTs NON-voodooo kernal.
- backed up my current rom (I assume this is same as nandroid backup) and installed JT's Kernal.
Now
- when my phone starts up I no longer has a splash screen (just black with music).
- I ran Set CPU and it only maxes at only 1000.
- I don't know but it seems a bit slower than Dirrks on my phone. (I base that on how long it takes programs to start up and animations look a bit laggier).

Did I change over correctly?
did you delete the disable_lagfix file in your sdcard/voodoo?
also jts kernels allow for boot anis dont know why you arent seeing one.
the kernels are non-oc the improvements are under the hood so yes you ll top out at 1000mhz.
slower is subjective a lot, but ive ran dirrks oc voodoo and these and i feel these are faster

i did have to remake a few images and resize others and such...but thats nothing compared to what someone who actually makes the theme does.
ill admit our phones dont take well to theme ports because we have a 2nd framework that others dont, so its more of a challenge (as well as the pulldown menu)
but any thanks i get would just be for sharing it, not for making it

OH, ok that makes sense then. So I don't need to run Set CPU anymore?
I'll give it some time to compare.
i dont know where to get the stock one...if you need 1 in general maz started a thread that lists the ones we knew of (maybe page 2 or 3 of the root section)
you can still use setcpu to underclock and set processor schedules if you like

You're not the first person to say Dirrk's stuff was still faster, guess it depends. To me it just means the possible improvements aren't likely to be uber-significant either way.
Definitely post back if you have a revelation with this new kernel, I'm curious.
Well so far I think jt's is pretty snappy. However a little choppy when opening web pages.
Also, does anyone have a problem with backlight notifications not working? I looked all over trying to find how I can apply the BLN mod independent of jt with no luck. And the app used to toggle BLN just told me that I don't have it installed. I thought all of Jts kernels supported BLN. I made sure that I ticked enable bln when flashing the blackglass rom.

jts newest kernel has it off by default...ill look for the link for the bln toggle app later buts its in the i9000 section at xda.
