Where does one find the new cwr?

This is very exciting news, but honestly I've invested so much time into getting my DJ05 build "just right" that I really can't see myself bothering with this until it's been brought up to community standards

As a newbie to the root crowd is there a step by step instruction to get this loaded. I checked out the How to Root posting but honestly its confusing as it looks to be so many choices I don't know where to begin. Basically I just want to put 2.2 on a standard build. I've been holding off jumping into the root game as this is my first smartphone, I am in Verizon country and was holding out for the Iphone, glad I didn't wait Being my first smartphone I've been just tinkering along and enjoying it for what it is. Now I want to make it my own so I guess rooting is the next step in the evolution of ownership.

to get to 2.2 from stock dl09 or whatever

1. root
2. download cwr
3. flash cwr in odin and rom manager
4. download froyo and froyo cwr..put them on your sdcard
5. boot into cwr, flash new cwr, then the rom...wipe data/cache before rebooting....
6. reboot
7. enjoy (oh you will loose data obviously, so you might want to consider backing up apps and app data with titanium backup)

Good info, thanks. I'm still going to hold off on installing this until it's beat up some more by the community. However this has been a long time coming!

just make sure to have the new cwr and froyo downloaded to flash back to back in cwr...doesnt matter which is first...just dont flash froyo and reboot unless you have new cwr flashed....imnuts packaged them together for simplicity:

the option allows you to change the search widget/search button to another search provider...but in my limited experience with it (i ditched it right away) the browser search bar couldnt be changed

Quick question. So this leak uses the DL09 radio right? My only gripe with the Fascinate is that i get pretty bad reception in areas that i used to have no problems with my blackberry. A couple guys at work also bought the Fascinate after i did, and they get 3-4 bars consistently whereas i get just 1-2 bars (and my Cell Standby-Time without a signal percentage is in the 70% range while theirs is about 5%).

I'm pretty convinced it's a hardware thing, but I'd be interested in hearing back if people are noticing improved reception with Froyo.

To my understanding, there's no radio with this, it's just a rom and a kernel. So it doesn't matter which radio I use (assuming only DL09 or DJ05).

I guess my real question is, does either radio have any benefit over the other. I've been on DL09, but if DJ05 has a better GPS lock or something I'll flash that on instead since it doesn't really seem to matter.

Depends on your definition of black I guess... it's not solid black like GB, but it's definitely a very dark charcoal grey.

I love it, trying out Nits new ported theme right now. It seems MUCH better in terms of how everything works. Once the new ROM's coming out using this as a base, going to be killer.

Many thanks to everyone in the phone community who makes this kind of stuff happen!!!!

Basically all the old themes/kernels can be deleted now since everything from this point on will be based on 2.2 stuff, correct?

nitsuj I saw you mentioned about the browser, I have a browser install zip I had been using with 2.1 it was a cleaned up browser I found over on xda or someone posted here at one point. Is that what you're using to get rid of the browser defaulting to bing or is there another one?

OK, last question.... is it required to get to a DL09 or DJ05 radio to do this, or can I stay on the original stock radio?

Well if you got the OTA update you'd be on the DL09 radio anyway. I haven't heard of anyone using the DI01 radio, so yes you'll need the DJ05 or DL09 if you don't have it, but you probably already do.

This is what I wanted to hear. =)

Now all we need are some imnuts voodoo kernel's and i'll be all set.

or won't 2.2 benefit from ext4? I'd assume it would.
