Happy Holidays everyone!
I'm staying at my parents house for a few days and they live in an area with spotty 3g signals. Last night I went to bed with my fascinate at 35% battery with the screen off. It went completely dead in less than 7.5 hours while asleep. Not sure how much faster than 7.5hrs, just know that my alarm didn't go off 7.5 hours later because the phone was completely dead.

Anyway, I think that losing that much battery while the phone is asleep is completely ridiculous.

I can't find any posts anywhere on how to turn off 3g, but keep 1x signal to still receive phone calls and texts. This might have been answered within another random post, but I could not find a thread with this as the main topic.

Does anyone know how to do this? I do not want to use airplane mode.

I went to settings>wireless & networks>mobile networks in the phone but there is no option there to deselect 3g or 1x only.

Hi,
if you want to disable data transfers, deselect "Settings/Wireless & networks/Mobile networks/Data enabled".
If you just want to disable 3G network usage (for data and mobile services) and switch to GSM, tick "Settings/Wireless & networks/Mobile networks/Use only 2G networks".

Thanks for the response, but I have the Fascinate on Verizon in the United States.

None of those options are available as my phone is a CDMA phone, not GSM.

Can someone with the CDMA verizon fascinate help me?

Get the apndroid app from market. It turns off the 3g data. It will leave on radio for phone and texts. I turns off 3g at night and I only lose around 1%-2% from 10 pm to 6 am.

This will solve your problem.

Touch the phone at the top line where the battery level,time etc, are located. Pull down that area and you will see wifi, bluetooth, gps, mobile data and auto rotation. Touch mobile data. Youu will get a messsage that you will no longer be able to use your browser, email etc. Touch OK. Data is now turned off.

You can still use wifi, but not 3G etc. Undo the same procedure if you want to access 3G.
