Thumbs down Samsung Fascinate i500 phone & Verizon

OK so I bought a used Fascinate i500 only to discover it has no SIM card. Rather it's locked to Verizon.
Can this model be unlocked?
If so can it be used on any carrier by registering the phone number?

You bought a CDMA phone and your island uses GSM?

Yes you are correct.
Lets assume I have CDMA reception. Could one still unlock it for use on another CDMA network? I'm wanting to sell it because of that reason but perhaps I could unlock it for the next user interested in buying. Would that work?
