Notsure Should I use Tim's Rom or not?

For everyone who is using Tim's latest ROM, would you recommend using it?
Any major negatives when using the ROM?

Is there a chance of ending up with a brick whilst flashing it?

Never flashed a device before so I'm quite unsure.

Tim's rom will 99% not brick your tablet. The instalation is easy. You download the file and unzip the 2 files that it inclues in your sd card or usb flash drive (not in a folder just in the sd or usb). Then You slide it in the tablet and turn it on. And voila. Not only you have Tim's better rom but also your tablet is now rooted so you wont have to do it manually. Tim's rom is a win win situation.

Do you wish to be able to have all this:

SuperPad2 Flytouch3 Hybrid Tim Rom

And do you wish to have the ability to do this:

SuperPad2 Flytouch3 Tim Rom Tips

If the answer is yes & yes, then flash it.

If the answer is no - then stick with what you have.

And I do not know of anyone who has been given the choice that has not flashed it and not been happy with the outcome.

I am very new to the tablet scene. What I can tell you is that Tim's ROM 5A is a masterpiece. If you follow the flash instructions and the tips as the previous posters have indicated, you can't go wrong! It is like a totally different tab (much better) than the standard rom. I can hardly wait for Tim's next release to see what improvements / additions there will be.

But now I can't seem to install skype and the mypad application which I quite liked. :/

MyPad - on Tims Tips Page (linked in my post above)

MyPad application
The application is deactivated by default in the rom, because it has a few issues with mounting / unmounting medias & such.
If you really need it there is however a GScript to activate it back
- Launch the GScript Lite application
- Scroll down in the list of scripts, and click on Activate/Deactivate MyPad application

I would suggest to use another FileManager application though

As for skype, I don't think there is a fully working solution that fits all right now, search this forum (and apd forum as well) for skype and read all the info for yourself.

Just a friendly suggestion. If you do not use skype to talk and you jsut want it to chat you can use IM+. I really disliked tat skype kept launching even when I did not want it up taking up my ram and I had to use another app to just kill it. IM+ is an nice app that you can actually link with many different messenger providers.

Hi, I am new to this forum and I have purchased a Flytouch 3 a month and a half ago. After purchasing this unit, I have realize that it's a clone flytouch3 where it says Firmware Model P041. But the pad is working fine, can watch HD movies, youtube, only problem is connection dropping. I can start downloading and then the download stop or browsing website and then can't browse anymore. No issue with Wifi signals or getting IP addresss. I am thinking to install Tim's Rom 5a in this device and see if I still have the dropping internet connection issue. Please let me know if I can install tim's rom 5a and will it resolve the issue? Thanks..

I'm afraid you can't install tim rom on a P041.

You will have to find the new firmware for your model, try opening a new thread with "Request for new P041 Firmware Please" or something like that.

Default DISCO10 FT3 - latest version of FW

Hi folks,

Just received my ibex FT3 from ************.
Very pleased with it overall, but I'd like to try the Funnycomb version of Tim5a. My FW is 20110803.

I've seen a few posts on here saying DO NOT flash this version as the hardware is different and the WiFi doesn't work, also some saying this is not true

Can anyone out there (Tim, flc4ever, flanflinger?) verify which is true?

I don't want to kill my new shiny tablet.

Also, is it possible for me to grab an image of this FW to restore it to factory condition - if so, how.

TIA
Muzzer

That means you CAN flash with FFFC or tim5a.

As you have an Ibex from CG - head over to aPad.TV - Home of the aPad iRobot Tablet PC - The Alternative to the Apple iPad for the download links (stock roms & user roms), and specific Ibex support for your FT3
