Default How do you like your burger?

As one who doesn't eat too much meat, I like a burger every now and then (eating one now). Having it with lettuce, tomato, blue cheese and ketchup; medium rare.
How does everyone else like theirs? Shoot out a particular local if you'd like.

I'm a simpleton. I like it with some lettuce, tomato, diced onion, and ketchup. It has to be cooked well done too. I don't do pink on my burgers/steaks.

Loves me some Brgr or Shake Shack.

Menu | Huey's Restaurant

When in the mood for a quality burger we go Huey's which is a locally owned place here. I get the Senor Huey ( see menu in link ).

However, most of the time when doing burgers at home or grabbing some fast food I do : mayo, mustard, & pickle. I like to keep it simple.

As for the patty, I really prefer it medium rare. If I'm making it home made just dash some worcestershire and it makes it very tasty but not too overpowering. As for toppings, a fried egg is always good. A strange combination but is actually pretty good is peanut butter and bacon.

For fast food, In and Out is my favorite. It has to be animal style though, with their "secret" spread. Without animal style In and Out is meh, but with it it is by far my favorite.

For restaurants, the Burger Bar in Mandalay Bay in Vegas is fantastic. I had their Kobe Burger and definitely ranks up there with one of the best burgers I had. Just made it simple with Kobe Beef, portoblello mushrooms, and ketchup, but it was amazing.

I prefer all my meat well done. I also like my burgers from local small restaurants or cook at home.

Rare with a cheese (any but blue is always better), maybe bacon, a bunch of salad, some mustard and a spot of mayo.

Did some a couple of weeks back and found out that it was the first time my missus had ever had a burger! I mean, obviously I knew that she's not a fast food or beef fan but ..

I am what is known as a picky eater, and I only get meat and cheese on my burgers, with the exception of "onion tanglers" which are simply mini onion rings haha.
No ketchup, no mustard, no lettuce, etc.. lol

I like swiss and cheddar together for the cheese, gotta have bacon, and the burger done medium to medium well

Medium rare and made from properly ground meat. No pre-packaged hamburger for me.

Burgers at home are always grilled out. Condiments: bacon, cheddar cheese, onion, and jalapenos.

For burgers out, by far my favorite dive is Bionic Burger... A small local chain. Their specialty is there six million dollar burger. It's a pounder with grilled and fresh cut onions, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and cheese. Their beef has an exceptional taste. They serve their burgers with fresh cut steak fries. It's a grease fix you won't soon forget.

It's got to be well-done/crispy with at least a slice of cheese and some ketchup on it. Ideally I like to go the whole nine yards with sharp cheddar, pickles, onions, lettuce, and tomato. And throw some mustard on there while I'm at it.

Don't eat meat anymore but when i did..my favorite was from a local place that serves hand made "sliders" grilled on top of onions with cheese, ketchup mustard and pickles.. on a steamed bun..I always ordered them light onion no mustard and would load it up with french fries on top! mmmm...
now I just order it w/o the patty and add more fries on top! not quite as good...but darn close

also dont know if it counts as a burger but...this is one of the things I miss the most because I really can't jimmy it up with fries...but it's called a looseburger
and a local coney island diner here (known for their chili dogs..) serves THE BEST..been going since I was just a little girl..anyway the looseburger is seasoned ground beef in a steamed hot dog bun topped with chili onions and mustard....

dang....now i went and made myself sad..
and hungry!!!!!

yeah med rare is how i roll when i make mine. if i'm eating out then, depending on where i go, i prefer medium.

i make all kinds of burgers depending on my mood and how fancy i want to go. teriyaki burgers with grilled pineapple is the bomb.

also i make a mean guinness burger. take hamburger and put some good blue cheese right into the middle of the patty. then take some cabbage and onions and sautee it and add a bit of guinness(you just need a little bit of the beer) and cook until the guinness reduces and glazes the veggies. i make this sweet guinness glaze that i then glaze the burger with while it is grilling. to finish, start with a good bun and top it with the veggies, a drizzle of the glaze, and cheese(something mild like provolone) and you got one amazing burger!!!!!

fastfoodwise i really like five guys. i used to like in n out, but five guys are just that much better.

i just ate here the other day: Umami Burger

i had the truffle burger......delicious!!!!

That sounds delicious.

I occasionally will make my burger with a hole in the center (think donut) and try an egg in the center.

That's about as fancy as I get

I tend towards pretty plain burgers actually.

A fairly thick patty of good quality beef. Well cooked, slightly singed is fine, but not dried out. Bit of onion. No cheese (should be moist enough without, otherwise has failed quality test), no salad or pickles in the bun (I don't find the tastes complement the burger, feel free to disagree). Maybe a little sauce if in the mood (mustard or chilli - occasionally sweetcorn relish if I'm feeling kiddy ) but often not - the meat shouldn't need it.

That said, I'm having a curry tonight

there is this place in LA called Father's Office and their burgers do not come with any condiments. the burger is lightly seasoned with salt and pepper and that is it. they have the usual lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese. the one no no is never ask about ketchup and you can't change the menu or add onto that is the only catch.

it is the juiciest burger i have ever tasted.......very good. it is a little pricey, but their beer selection more then makes up for it.

We have a local chain called Locos which does pretty good burgers. Medium for me. When I make them at home I will add Worcestershire if I'm in a hurry, or will mix in diced green onions, blue cheese, and some cubed butter.

I heard of something similar to this in NY i think, saw it on good eats i believe, and there too they ban the use of ketchup because they say it ruins the burger.

Wouldn't mind trying it myself

Medium well, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles and just a touch of A1 sauce. It just isn't a burger without A1 sauce

I like to make stuffed burgers at home. Last weekend we grilled a green olive and Munster cheese for me, and I made a plain American cheese stuffed for the kiddos. For hubby, I kicked up the heat with diced jalapeno, pepper/jack and bacon! All the goods are in the middle of the burger!

Trust your butcher to grind a proper meat. Or learn to grind your own. Regardless of your favorite recepie, it will taste better.

Eh...I've been cooking mine on a "george foreman" contact grill using premade patties from HEB and Kroger...not all that great but I can't cook outside on a real grill because the apartment lease that I signed bars me from cooking outside (excepting the communal grill on the other side of the complex of course). So I just open the cover periodically, stick a digital meat thermometer in the meat...if it reaches a consistent 160F I'm done. I'm still learning how to cook for myself.

How does everyone else like theirs? Shoot out a particular local if you'd like.
Cheese, ketchup, pickles. MUST be well-done (I hate the texture of ground beef that's less than well-done).

It's how Five Guys does it. Never had em though.

Why does Five Guys only serve burgers cooked well done?

By cooking all of our burgers juicy and well done we are able to achieve two goals.

Ensure a consistent product
Meet or exceed health code standards for ground beef
We understand that there are varying opinions on what level a burger should be cooked for optimal flavor and our opinion is that our burgers taste best cooked juicy and well done.

Well-done and dry are only synonyms with less-skilled cooks.

My burger : medium rare, 1 leaf lettuce, 1 slice tomato, some fried onion rings, Dutch* mayo, curryketchup, some cheddar cheese ,some surinam tomato/peppersauce** ( Real hot ! ) and a fried egg on top. Some grinded pepper on the egg , and Yammie.

* Dutch mayo: This not the sour tasting Belgian mayo, or the american mayo. Dutch mayo is creamy, with a slight bite from mustard. Google : Zaanse Mayonaise

**Surinam Tomato Peppersauce
A very spicy sauce from surinam, wich i use on bread and cheese to take with me to work.

I actually have a few different preferences with burgers.

Sometimes I do the patty 1 part black angus beef, 1 part turkey burger and 1 part Italian sausage. I top it with pepper jack cheese and place it on a sesame seed bun with some Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce.

Other times I make it much like a 'meatloaf burger'. I take some black angus beef add crumbled mozzarella, fetta and parm. Then I crush some Chicken in a Biskit crackers and mix it into the burger with some Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and applewood rub and toss them on the grill. (In the pan it just makes a mess with the cheese)
Again I use a sesame seed bun and some katsup and stone ground mustard OR Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce ( I put that stuff on everything )

I consider myself more of a 'carnivore' than an 'omnivore' so I don't do tomato, lettuce or onion. Oh and I like my burger done (unlike my steak)
