With your stats I would pick a melee weapon skill (club/edge/brass knuckles/etc) at least one of them. Brawling etc work, but I am guessing that a weapon will do more damage than bare hands. Other than that it looks pretty good to me.

There are two types of magic. As an android I would recommend arcane (because you don't need extra skills to level a certain type). Think of it kind of like a medieval wizard, but that it is more like super high tech science than a spell. You should pick a school (i.e. Type of spell) like charms or fire or whatever you prefer. Think of that like learning a type of weapon, you learn the school/type and are proficient in it. They may fail or miss, but you know your way around it pretty well. The stat associated with that is Int. Willpower based (divine) is more healing/defense with some damage dealing schools. That one is better for humans as it costs an extra skill to learn for androids, but humans don't need that, arcane is basically the opposite (humans need the skill and androids don't). If you want to be a weapon focused fighter (swords/clubs/pistol/flame thrower/etc) I would pick str (for melee i.e. swords/clubs/etc) or agi (ranged weapons i.e. guns etc) as your primary. Humans have a very slight edge for non magic combat (not by much), so if you want to be an android, it won't gimp you but humans have a small edge there. (base stats which can be mostly evened out, and a slightly larger health pool).
Sorry for that being long, hope it clarifies a bit. Feel free to ask if you are unsure and need help, we'll help you get set up how you want. I have some D&D rpg experience, it makes this easier as the concepts are similar. If you haven't played a similar game, this can appear daunting. Just remember that we will help anyone out.
sweet I get drunk and you guys all get characters made. let's get this started today. AFAIK karan is still working on maps but I don't think it will be needed right away. I will collect my ideas and get a starting post typed up. We will start with role play...
I have updated the currency on post 5 to show that the currency is Google Credits. I am going to begin the game in a moment. Finalization of characters should be done by midnight EST tonight. I will at that point document in a Google doc everyone's character after that point if you wish to change anything it needs to be discussed with me first (hide tag post here or PM is fine) this includes if you chose a skill and want to change it or if you are using PP to upgrade the character. Backstory is nice and you will be rewarded for so if you come up with a backstory please either post it here or send me a PM if you do not wish it to be public. If we find that a certain rule isn't working as expected it can be changed but it will only be effective from the time it is changed onward so if rule x causes you trouble today then we change it 3 days from now it doesn't change the past . Lets try to minimize the discussion of this game in the FGL I don't want to chase off people from that thread. Remember no editing action posts once you have posted it that is what your character does (there will be exceptions to this but it will be due to discussion. I am still trying to finalize how the roll system will work. I think it will be you do your action. I post a difficulty then your next post (in or out of game as long as it is in this thread) will provide the post ID used in the roll.
The air smells of saltwater full of the sounds of gulls and the scents of the wharf. You see people bartering over the prices of fish, clams, shell jewlery, and many of the goods provided by the sea. The atmosphere reminds you of why you love the town of Gamin so much, everything just seems natural here. You have received notice that someone you have never met before has asked to meet with you. This stranger who you have been told is named “Danforth” has asked you to meet him in the local gaming house, The Spinning Beer, to discuss a potential job.
After passing the wharf your next stop is The Spinning Beer. You walk past the temple of Phases and see the cats gathered all saying “Nyu nyu” and begging for food and milk that the followers of Phases leave as payment to the god. When you arrive at The Spinning Beer you see that it is very busy. It looks like a game of tug of war between a green team and blue team was just concluded the folks who were involved are talking amongst themselves. There are a people playing a game where they keep putting down bets and man running the game keeps yelling winner as soon as a bet is made. You aren’t that interested in the games being played you are looking for Danforth eager for some money.
In the corner of the facility you notice a bar maid calling you over. As you go over to her you see she is beckoning you to sit with a man you haven’t seen before in a booth.
The man greets you and introduces himself as Danforth. Danfroth is an older man, late 60’s the best you can tell. He is wearing a green fedora a sign you know means he is a devout Friscoterian. He speaks in a tired, raspy voice that is slightly slurred and when he speaks you can smell the alcohol on his breath as it fills the small booth.
Danforth says “I have selected you and a few other individuals for a job that I need completed. I selected you because some of my colleagues in town informed me that you may be willing and capable of both fulfilling my request and coming back alive. At this time I can give no details to you as to what the job will be but I have an offer for you. If you are willing to be a member of this team I will give you 150 GC now to go spend on supplies you need and you just have to come back to The Spinning Beer tomorrow at noon. The money should be enough to get you some weapons, armor, and food for the journey. I don’t know how long it will take you to finish the job but if you complete it then not only will I reward you for the troubles but I may also have additional jobs for you in the future. It is up to you to decide if you have the sense of adventure to take on this or not. With whatever you decide may Frisco be with you”
Danforth then presents you with an envelope that contains the money, you can either accept it and go on your shopping trip or decline and be on your way. What do you do?
If you take the money please post what you would like to buy in hide tags I will then give the okay or no on specific items for armor you can get cotton, leather, or synthetic leather any other type of armor needs may be a no go once I okay your shopping trip please either edit the hide tags out or repost your list and add that you go to The Spinning Beer at noon the next day.
If you choose not to take the money then hope everyone else does as well so I have to be creative again and figure out how to get the group together and out of gamin...
Your first reply determines if you take the money or not so choose wisely

Smith says to Danforth, "Well, you seem like a decent fellow and this could be interesting. I will take you up on that offer."
Smith takes the credits and gets off to doing some shopping.

After returning Smith looks in on some of the games, one in particular catches his eye. It has people telling random lies about the person who spoke before them. He thinks to himself ('How odd... Did I just hear someone yelling about being banned? Oh well, this is a silly place.') Smith then goes off to get some rest before the meeting with the other hired adventurers.

Danforth then reaches into is vest and pulls out a stack of cache larger than you have seen before counts out an additional 50 GC and puts them in the envelope and hands it to you. After you take the envelope he says
"Do not disappoint me T'resezk for I am not the type person who will forgive failure or insolence had it not been for what I have heard about you I would not have given you anything and just sent you on your way...my Frisco be with you"
These words are spoken with a cold hatred that can only be gained by seeing countless horrors that should not exist in this world. They give you the feeling that Danforth is a man who you should not cross if you value your life as he would be willing to risk his to get a point across.
You find everything in your shopping list including the cell phone
had you not had a skill and brought it up you wouldn't have been able to afford the phone
It is a prepaid phone that you can "top up" currently it has a balance of 10GC on it (enough for 200 mins) it is a dumb phone. You have 5 GC left.
In your asking around town for info is not completely fruitless. You hear a rumor that Danforth is an expat from Otros who fought against the Apple corp take over of the country. You also hear another rumor that Danforth is somehow connected to Apple Corp. You are unable to verify the validity of either claim.

Cain slowly sips on his beverage of cheap whiskey. Saying nothing, he grabs the money and leaves the building.
Gear we already mentioned, does that need to be purchased? I'm fine if so, but otherwise I'm thinking my gear is fine. And by gear, I mean clothes. I'm not expected Cain to be walking around in just underpants...

After the day of shopping and resting that night. Smith goes to wander around the city. He hasn't been to this place in ages. It isn't much like he remembers (and being an android his memory is perfect). It was a small place when he was last here and has grown into a decent city. He can recognize some landmarks, but it is mostly unfamiliar.
During his wandering Smith asks around about the local gossip and rumors of anything interesting. He makes it back to the spinning beer with enough time to enjoy a pint before meeting Danforth and the others.
All of that is fine you may 150 rounds for the six sooter, 50 rounds for the hunting rifle, currently you have 90 GC left. I suggest you purchase some sort of armor otherwise you are good

Sounds good, what type helmet are you buying? motorcycle, bicycle, midevil knight? You found some steal toed boots but they seemed kinda drafty and were branded as heavy duty sandals the steel toed boots seemed better but you can get either
Trench coat give +1 AC, the helmet may give +1 AC as well once I know what type it is. You have a case of beer, 12 pack of cola, and a hamburger pizza. The yo-yo is glow in the dark
okay you are good you have 30GC left after your shopping trip, the helmet provides a +1 AC and I assume you went with the steel toed boots? if so they do +1 to damage for the boots. I am not sure what the damage is yet but that is the additional they do compared to normal boots

Android's don't need oil or recharging, they eat and sleep like humans (it is easier this way). Finding the rail gun, emp, and carbon fiber armor is a little difficult.
You can find a personal EMP that affects 1 android but you can't buy it since it is an illegal weapon, the street cost of it is more expensive than 150 GC (1000 GC each)
You found a pistol rail gun which is basically handheld and uses special bullets but does basically the same damage as a normal pistol.
The best type of armor you can find is synthetic armor. Gamin is not exactly a big town and for expensive things like carbon fiber armor it would have to be special ordered and cost more than you have. A synthetic leather vest would give +2 AC
yeah that is fine you have 30 boxes of ramen and 3 gallons of water, nightvision goggles, backpack, oil, pistol railgun (PRG), 300 rounds for the PRG, recharageable electric supply and a solar charger.
Not sure why you need the bolded items so if you don't want them anymore you have more money. Currently you have 20 CG left, if you get rid of the bold items you have 60 CG left
please confirm if you are taking the bold items or not and we can move on

okay my next post here will be story progression so if you have any additional shopping to do better do it before I post again (may be a little bit but likely within the next hour and a half)
At noon you arrive in The Spinning Beer and sit down in the same booth with Danforth and 4 other people you do not know. Danforth then says “So this is the group I have put together...hmm...I was hoping a few of the others would have joined in on this job but I guess not everyone is up for dangerou...erm...adventures ha..ha.” Danforth surveys everyone’s face with a nervous expression. “Well first I would like to go to a more secure place to discuss things. I have rented a room above this establishment that we can discuss things in a more private setting so to speak, there are some things I have to tell you that I would rather be kept between us.”
At this Danforth proceeds to go up a spiral staircase. You follow Danforth up the staircase to the third floor where it appears Danforth has rented the penthouse that you were unaware The Spinning Beer had. Danforth gestures everyone to sit down at a table that is quite a bit larger than the booth, once everyone is seated he tells you “Well since I doubt you know each other I will do the introductions T'resezk, Smith, H.T.C., Zach, and Cain I suggest you get to know one another since one of these men may be the person who saves your life one day soon.”
Danforth then examines the room again “I would also like to tell you a little about myself. Since I have called you all together and know you will need to be able to trust me for this job to be a success. I hail from Otros and was one of the patriots that fought against Apple Corp when they were trying to take over. I was only a young boy when it happened but I was already enrolled in the army and they sent me to be recruited by Apple Corp to work as a double agent. Shortly after I was one of the youngest members of the iArmy I worked for them for more than 30 years while remaining faithful to my home country even after it fell I worked with underground rebels to plot a new revolution. I moved up the ranks eventually becoming one of the iArmy's top advisors until 20 years ago my double agent status was discovered by some of the top brass I was arrested and scheduled to be executed. Lucky for me the word of my execution was leaked out to some of the rebels and they helped me escape from Apple Corp.”
At this time Danforth’s expression becomes very sad and he seems to be fighting back tears he continues. “After my escape I tried to stay in Otros and help the rebels but after they captured and killed my daughter and son-in-law I took my granddaughter, Estelle Anaveros, and left the country. This is why I need your help. I found out a few days ago that my granddaughter has been captured by Apple Corp. I have tried contacting the government here in Lounge but they were unwilling to assist in her rescue. The rebels in Otros have been all but wiped out and the few that are left are not sure if they should trust me I want you to help me recover my granddaughter and bring her back to Gamin to live with me. I have to tell you that I do not know where she is being held currently I am assuming in Otros but I am not sure, what I need you to do now is break into the Otros embassy in Vipa, go to the director’s office and find the files on where my granddaughter is being held as well as any info stored there on me and her. With this info I should be able to direct you to the correct location to break her out. The file are on encrypted mirco SD chips, please do not try to access them as they will overwrite themselves if someone without the correct credentials tries to access the info stored on them. Bring them back to me and I have the proper knowledge to access them.”
Danforth then opens a bottle of Samsung brand vodka and takes a long drink. “If you have any questions for me or feel like getting to know each other better now is the time to ask. I have arranged for you to stay here tonight I will be sleeping in room 201 on the second floor but will stay here for the time being to answer any questions you may have. Tomorrow you can depart on my boat to go to Vipa if none of you know how to sail I will gladly teach one of you the basics. And if there is anything any of you need let me know I will see hat I can do...oh and does anyone want a drink?”
Ask Danforth any questions you feel, as well as each other since you are all strangers. Once everyone is done getting to know each other and doesn't have any further questions for Danforth we will begin the journey to Vipa. I expect to start the journey around midnight EST tonight (after I get home from work so more like 1 AM but we can go earlier or later if needed once you are done with your questions let me know with a hide taged post

Glancing from side to side, across the room at all the new faces. Listening to Zach's introduction, I look at Danforth.
"How do you propose we get into Vipa? There will be patrols. We can be assured of that."
While asking this, I help myself to some of the samsung vodka.
"There may be some but my boat will not show up on the scanning systems and if you are seen by the a patrol boat you should be fine as long as none of you are wanted criminals" looks at Zach, Danforth runs downstairs and comes back with an official looking letter and hands it to Cain. "This is a pass to get into Vipa, it is from one of my friends there at the Friscoterian mosque, if a patrol boat stops you present this and tell them you are going to see 'Leonard Estian' I will also provide each of you a fedora if you do not have one so you can look the part"
He then goes and retrieves 5 green fedoras and hands them to all members of the party.
"If anyone would like the religious texts I can get those as well, I am not here to convert you but the word of Frisco should be spread"
Danforth tops off Cain's and Zach's glasses then finishes the bottle and produces a half gallon of ZTE rum and sets that on the table "I've got more where that came from" then opens it and takes a big drink

Zach responded to Danfourth and said "No, life in the vault wasn't all bad though, I had a mom, brother and sister. It was, however, a shame that Veronica died. we began to develop feelings for one another. We even started to see each other. That is...until..."
I had to stop myself from going any further as I started to tear up. Then, I asked for another drink.
Danforth pours you another drink. "It's okay son. I too know the feeling of loss..."
Danforth then has a look of astonishment on his face "I forgot to tell you there may be some pirates as you get close to Vipa, they should be easy to deal with but you should be prepared" He then smiles and has another drink from the rum bottle.
