I just bought an unlocked T-mobile G1 dream, and a sim card from Telus for it. I haven't been able to get the thing to connect to Telus, I thought it was just a matter of popping in the sim card, activating it, and going.

However, I'm getting no bars, can't dial out, and since the phone kicks up an error when the sim card isn't in properly I'm fairly sure that's not the issue. Unfortunately my old phone doesn't use a sim card so I can't test the card itself.

I can't for the life of me figure out even where to start, I poked around the settings for the G1 and found a section for mobile networks, originally when I searched for networks all it could find was Rogers Wireless, and now when I'm searching it says 'Error while searching for networks.'

I'm not quite sure what to do here, it's my first smart phone so I'm ever so slightly lost. Can anyone help me? I'd be happy with basic phone service, wireless browsing isn't a huge priority for me.
