Default camera doesn't focus

Hi the camera on my G1 have very blurry picture. It doesn't attempt to focus at all.

It seems to be a software more than hardware problem. I have the application Snaptell which takes picture of barcodes and looks up in the internet for the price of the item. Snaptell can focus the camera very well and takes a quite sharp image of the barcode. So it looks like it's the problem with the camera software.

Could somebody help me with this?

Thanks,

if you try to take a pic of something Closeup ... the viewer is not perfectly focused ... but upon pressing the button to take the picture is when the focus software kicks in

To expand on that a little..

If you half-press the button...

It will focus and NOT take a picture...so you can preview the shot before you actually take it..
