So basically what is happening to me is that my screen freezes when it goes from the keyboard to portrait mode. This has happened in the browser, chompsms, and sometimes when I am on the home screen. I am still on the stock 1.5 firmware. I've already done a factory reset and that didn't solve my problem. I've posted my problem on android community and didn't get and solutions so hopefully someone on here can help me out.

Do you have any HOME replacement app running ... like aHome, dxTOP, Better Home.... ?

if so uninstall and check again after you have uninstalled and rebooted ...

No I am not running any sort of home replacement. Just the normal home. I also forgot to mention.... sometimes when I open the keyboard slowly it doesn't freeze the screen. And just recently now the screen doesn't turn on from sleep and remains black but the buttons do light up.

Sounds as though it might be the switch that detects when the screen is moved .... I would return the phone for replacement ...

Alright I guess I will talk to my tmobile dealer then. Thanks for your advice.
