I have a problem, and I’ll admit it is of my own making.
Just the same, I’d like to know if there is a solution.
I have a LG Optimus G2X (LG-P999) (WIND Mobile Canada) with OS 2.2
I tried to install CyanogenMod 7.1, but used the wrong install program.
I ended up with an almost dead phone.
I was able to find a program which “resurrected” the phone, but now it shows that it is a T-Mobile phone with OS 2.3.3
My main problem now is that I can not root the phone.
When I execute "root" on SuperOneClick, the process freezes before it is finished.

When I load Rom Manager, and try to perform certain functions, it returns an error message: "An error occurred while attempting to run privileged command".

I have tried everything I know of, but am unable to get any closer to a solution.
It seems I am not the only one having this problem, but it seems no answers are given.

Anyone here who can steer me in the right direction?

I have found a procedure at [GUIDE] [10/15/11] [CWM 5.0.2.6] NVFlashing CWM Recovery for Dummies - xda-developers ,
and followed everything to the letter.

BUT: When I try to execute "cd\ cd g2x\nvflash
nvflash.exe --bct E1108_Hynix_512MB_H8TBR00U0MLR-0DM_300MHz_final_emmc_x8.bct --bl fastboot.bin --download 5 recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-p999.img" from the command prompt, it returns an error message "The system cannot execute the specified program" (running Windows XP).
When I just execute nvflash.exe it scrolls though a multitude of files on my computer, none of them referring to "recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-p999.img" as near as I can see.

The directions say "You should see it send a bunch of files to the device and the phone screen should say "S/W Upgrade - Please wait while upgrading...".
However, nothing appears on the phone screen, and no apparent changes are made in the phone..

Am I using the correct procedure, or is there another one?

Yep that's exactly what you need to be doing, good effort hunting out the guide.

No reason that it shouldn't work though.

Actually, someone else gave me this link ( [ROOT] G2X Gingerbread 2.3.3. stock ROM with flashable zip in Clockworkmod Recovery - xda-developers ) and following those directions did the job.
