I knew about the notification freeze. I just have not heard of anyone else having it reboot into safe mode. Was wondering if it somehow had to do with using the reboot option as opposed to the power off option... Or if it was just me
Sorry about that . I misunderstood you (lol). I thought that you had put it in safe mode . I bet that scared the SH*T out of you . I know that I would have been trippin' .
I'll reflash in a min and check the different maps and youtube versions...but does anyone know how to enable haptic feedback on soft keys? No matter what settings i try, it doesn't work.
This is a great rom, that gives me the most battery life out of all mods i tried so far, i just hope i can get these bugs with google apps and haptic feedback worked out somehow, then it'll be perfect.

Phone randomly thinks it's charging...
Is anyone familiar with a bug that makes the phone randomly think its charging? I can't seem to track down anyone who's encountered this and and discovered a solution.
I was running beta 4 when this started to occur, but am now on beta 5. I have now tweaks of any kind although I did put a few items back from the removed apps zip but somehow I doubt that would make a difference.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
UPDATE:
Seems to be working great . No lag what so ever on pinpointing position .
I am running the older Maps version that you provided earlier . Going to test the updated version now .
UPDATE:
New version of Maps seems to be working properly . No lag or freezing noticed . I'll test it further today . Good job Mr.Roark .

Ran version No-ext
Definitely works. Used GMaps 6.2.0 since 6.3.0 is buggy for me. GPS locks fast and accurately for both directions and navigation. Appreciate this fix. One step closer to getting out of beta.
youtube 2.3.4 that was posted in this thread and maps 5.8.0 work perfectly on my phone without any flashing, just installed them regularly as user apps.
I cannot, for the life of me figure out that ringer bug i mentioned earlier. Doesn't matter what i do, turn all volumes down, put the phone on silent, put ringer as silent, deleted ALL media files i could find in /system/media and sdcard, that thing still rings once upon incoming call!!
I reflashed, even installed another mod, wiped many times over, then reflashed again, same result.
basically no matter my sound settings(vibrate,silent,etc..) phone rings once on incoming call with that distinct ringer sound(sounds like basic high pitched ringer sound). if ring volume is up then it rings once, then starts the ringtone i picked.
is there another directory with media files i can look at?? Ive searched everywhere, it seems like its hardcoded into the rom. would not be that big of a deal if it didnt ring when silenced...i have to turn my phone off to have it completely quiet.

Have you thought about using Odin and starting from scratch with the rooted version of Gingerbread? It actually wouldn't take that long at all to go that route. That would be an easy way to fix anything that may have been corrupted .

if you could tell me a way I can duplicate it on my system, I may be able to fix it
How can i COMPLETELY wipe the phone storage before flashing the rom?
I got a feeling it may be some leftovers from some rom i tried that's messing me up.
i always make sure to wipe everything including sdcard through cwm before and after installing anything, but maybe there's something still left over.

Use Odin and load the EJ06 image and then install beta 5, and then my latest beta 5 map fix no-ext kernel
do not install anything else or change any settings
Overall, the newest sd-ext kernel with Maps fixed is running better than ever.
No big deal and I am not sure where to point fingers, but I do notice that with the sd-ext kernels in general there is always a little lag at first. Then it goes away. This may be the nature of the Beast.
After Boot when the Lock Screen appears, I find that if I wait a little less than a minute to unlock the screen I have no problems at all. This is not at all a problem for me.
I use ADW EX, one Home Screen page with Two Widgets. Fancy Widgets Weather and Calengoo Agenda. Dock scrolls Three Sets of Five apps. Fancy Widgets Weather Hotspots all load apps.
I keep all automatic sync at boot options turned off and most of the time sync apps manually. I use the email app for gmail and Yahoo.
I get notifications from Tapatalk and FriendCaster Pro. Plus numerous SMS alerts from Handcent.
I move as many crucial BIG apps as possible to System, even though I use the sd-ext kernel.
I clear Dalvik Cache periodically using Root Explorer.
I always do a CWM Backup before making any configuration change. I also police my backups and only keep the major ones, deleting the unneeded ones with Root Explorer
16GB Class 10 with 1GB sd-ext. I assume that Beta 5 sets SD cache at 2048
I use Performance Governor with 32MB heap size.
No scripts except whatever comes with Beta 5.
I use Basic White for CM7 from Theme Chooser.
Any recommended Tweaks?

I have noticed this since I flashed beta 5, even after going back to 4 my phone still has this "feature". Honestly I don't mind it personally, however my wife does seem bothered by it at times. Happens exactly the same way on my phone as well.

So if I want a true clean install I have to odin back to stock then flash rom? I've been jumping back and forth between roms and I haven't been getting as good results as everyone
I had the same problem, i changed this line in the build prop
dalvik.vm.heapsize=32m
To
dalvik.vm.heapsize=23m
(don't ask, 23 just seems to be the number, lol)
And changed
/system/xbin/echo "2048"
To
/system/xbin/echo "1024"
In /system/etc/init.d/10sdcache
Fixed it right up, for me at least (ymmv)
Oh, i also have 66Citbun, but i took out the lines that conflict with Hroarks ram script... (And also made sure 66Citbun had a lower # than Hroarks ram script, so his gets the final say)

Odin overwrite almost all partitions if you flash all 3 tar files
Good day everyone. I have been lurking for a while, and enjoying the fruits of your labor. I must say, you who are responsible for CM7b5 deserve a round for your efforts. I initially started using CM7b3.5 and happened across b5 a couple of weeks ago while out in the field. I've been playing around with the kernels, but haven't been able to get one working correctly for me.
As it stands, I'm currently using the CM7b5 ROM from the first page and no matter which way I cut it, when I attempt to use one of the newer kernels, I end up with much the same problems as ***a previous poster***. After flashing any of the kernels with CWM, the phone process FCs and restarts the launcher when an app is installed. I'd typically make it through the download, and once the installation starts, the launcher restarts and goes back to the CM7 boot screen. Once I'd log back in, there would be an FC for the phone process. More often than not, it's just the phone process, at times, other Google process would FC with it (Gmail, Voice, Talk, etc.).
I have since completely wiped, repartitioned, and formatted everything, and am running CM7b5 with no issues thus far. When I'm out of the field, I'll be stocking my phone and re-flashing CM7b5 to try one of the kernels again. I can't offer much in the way of troubleshooting out here. I have plenty of computing power at my disposal, however, none of these systems can be configured for what I'd like to do, without repercussions that is.
Again, thanks to all responsible for the awesome package you've put together with CM7b5.

If LV's method doesn't work , you might wanna try using Bloodawn's apkinstaller.zip . Just click the link below, read the directions and download the zip .
Odined back, reflashed beta 5&mapfix,didn't touch any settings, still got that ringer issue :/
Even tried beta 4, same things, my phone just doesn't like this rom.
when i flash it do i make a zip? is it a update from sd card or installing zip from sd card ? not sure?
Just download the apkinstaller.zip . Open it ( do not unzip it ) . Just double click on the zip file . Then double click on "system" then double click on "app" . Drag the window to the side of your screen .
Then , open the removed apps zip. Drag the apk's you want to the opened app folder of the apkinstaller.zip . Once you have transferred the apk's that you want , just close the window .
Transfer the apkinstaller.zip with you newly added apk's to your SD Card and install using CWM . ( Boot in to RECOVERY , select install from sdcard , select choose zip from sdcard , select the apkinstaller.zip and install it .
After rebooting the phone , you should now have the apk's that you wanted .

If you mean the little chirp before the ringtone, i just assumed it had to do with the "new" sound drivers... (new being vs stock) been happening to every prevail i have put cm7 on... But it does not do it on silent mode...

It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't happen when on silent, that's what bothers me so much about it :/
Thanks for the maps fix, hroark. I updated my cm7b4 install yesterday with the map fix kernel and the newest maps is working perfectly. Seems like the new kernel also fixed the other problem with the non-data2ext kernel thinking it was a data2ext kernel. LOL. Newest Quadrant scores in the mid 1500's!
Yes, the scoring system has indeed changed on the latest version of Quadrant. It also takes A LOT longer to perform the series of tests. You're right, I used to be hitting low 1900's on previous versions.
the no carrier id bricked my phone... when I installed the phone went through formating partitions and flashing kernel other things that happen when installing cm7... not sure if anyone else had this issue

what changes did you make to 66citbun. I was thinking of adding it, but I don't want it to interfere with what hroark already added

from 66citbun. and like i said, also renamed the it to 22Citbun so that the hroarks script runs after it (i originally renamed the ram to 70, but then decided to change it back and lower the number for the citbun)
