Guys, this doesnt work on FA19. stop asking. there is no updating it etc, as it stands you have no exploits that will root this device that are publicly available. you guys have cwm and can flash a pre-rooted kernel in odin to gain root for the life of this device.if a new exploit comes out publicly then i will make you guys a new one so you can have one click goodness, however in order to get roms youll still need to use odin... so its prolly just best you learn how anyways
I dont ask for much, but my friend is going through some rough times,
if you wish to donate to me send it his way, he needs it more than i do Donate here

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks to the folks who came up with this one. I've been trying to root my phone since August and to no avail (damned auto-updates...) but this one did the trick nice and quick.
Thanks!
Edit: To anyone else who might have this happen: right after running it, my haptic feedback stopped working. Give the phone a quick reset and it should be back in working order.

I went to the market and BusyBox opened it and it said that my phone was not rooted. Debugging enabled and sd card unmounted.
With your phone off find your one-click root file but do not open it, now power on your phone and when the first samsung logo appears open the one-click file, then let the phone boot up completely and make sure you have USB Debugging on and hit enter on your computer.
gracias! sorry for the confusion, i was guessing that report = bad and tip was good
anyways yes the old version is obsolete
if/when gingerbread comes out for us this method should work just fine
i'll be sure to update the guide
also since this is the new official one click root thread would you mind typing up a quick how to procedure in your first post or at least a link to a video tutorial or something? thanks
hey mods, now would be a good time to unsticky the other one click thread

please use the version posted here. dont use the old one and complain in the new thread that the old one doesnt work
@psp_noob yea when i get a chance ill have little instructions on it, videos should still be the same procedure tho, as you are still downloading a zip, extracting it and then running the batch file
I've unstuck the interdpth thread, and I'm sure the many that enjoyed that method will continue to be grateful for the hard work done there.
Shabbypenguin - please consider updating your second post in the old thread to point to this thread - your present instructions require too much jumping around within that thread first, in my opinion. Also, consider checking your font size choice for mobile browsing viewers - but that's just aesthetic and totally your choice.
Hope this helps - remember muchachas and muchachos, asking for mod help within a post within a thread within a subforum might get noticed in time - but that handy !Report button next to any post will always work the best!
Stay excellent, and drop me a PM if you need any special help.

I'm having the same problem that Kelevra666 was having.
I'm in debug mode on my Prevail trying to root from a mac.
Started terminal, ran ./Linux-Mac.sh
The phone rebooted and gave me the same error Kelevra666 received.
I ran it several times and still no root.
Any ideas?
thanks
if you have teh exact same error then i suggest you go to the other thread. as i told him that version he is running is not my newest one.
i wrote both scripts of both versions, kms 3.0 and kms 4.0 was done without me but even then it was changes to the exploit and minor changes to the script. ergo i know which version spits out what
Shabbypenguin-
Thanks for the response. I used the script from this link you posted. http://goo.gl/S5wq7 Is this the one you were referring to or is there another one? I tried this one and received the same error.

I downloaded the OCR, but it only wants to open it as an iTunes file. What can I use to change it into something that will let it run so I can root?
What file did you try running? It sounds like you did something other than unzip the "Prevail-Replenish-NEW-OCR.zip" file and then run root.bat (Linux-Mac.sh for linux/mac oses)

When all else fails, try reading the Readme.txt
I finally got it to unzip, but now when I try to run the boot.bat, It says my phone isn't debugged, but it is, and it says that iw worked, but it didn't. Should I download a driver or something? my phone is unrooted w/ Gingerbread 2.3.5. I have a mac, but I'm using my bro's pc to root.
Ran shabbified OCR
let it complete
Once it was stuck repeatedly FC vibrating, I rebooted the phone into recovery
I then did a factory reset and rebooted
It took forever to boot, but when it did, root goodness
I did have to type su to get root in adb, and click allow when superuser popped up on the phone.
Worked great. Just reboot the phone once it starts doing the vibrating jingle. I had to pull battery.
What did you exactly do to make your root work? The readme is kinda vague, and even though my phone is on debug mode, it still doesn't let me root.
It keeps saying "Not Recognized as an internal or external command." but says the root is finished.
Edit: Nevermind, got it.

Got the rooted copy then ended up using this on it to get it all working right (just a pain in general). Anyways, any ideas on why when uninstalling system stuff occasionally I get a force reboot? I have latest SU.apk and binary yet it still occurs. I had the CM7.1 copy of busybox 1.9 then went to 1.8 regular yet still have the reboots.
Man thanks again...............I updated my Prevail and I had a hell of a time trying to get root back but this worked for me. Thanks again man. I'll donate again....just for that.
i gutta get with qbking77 and see if we cant get another video made for yall on this new one.. i made this pre-gb so it needs some minor tweaks but hopefully i can get it going to where it goes without issues

When i try to root It keeps saying 'adb.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
"You should have root!"
But it is not rooted

are you trying to run the batch file while it's still in the zip file?
Adb is right there in the zip. You need to extract all the files from the zip into the same directory for it to work. just clicking into the zip file with windows explorer will cause it to only extract the .bat file to a temp directory and not work.

I used Rom Manager and bricked my phone... Went and purchased another Prevail and it upgraded to 2.3.5 and due to the new system I couldn't get my new phone to root using the old method. Thanks to this my 2.3.5 works fine rooted!
Thank you!
If there is any way that you know of to get my brick back up and running I'd appreciate it. This was definitely a user error on my part...

Did the same to mine with rom manager. Back in september. Wouldn't power on our anything. So sent it to samsung and it was so jacked up that they thought it was a phone defect and sent me another

Tweaks? It seems to run fine on gb. First try two times for me. I assume the segmentation fault is supposed to occur as part of the privilege escalation?
