Ok, all of you guys on here have been great. My thanks go out to just about every thread I've read.
Could someone post a step by step guide to replacing your boot animations (as in, what you need to download and install, details on how to install roms and boot animations.)
Phone is rooted, now how do you do the COOL customization?
I would like to rock the resident evil boot animation but am obviously not as skilled as you all yet.

It's actually very easy. You do need to have a custom rom like CT or CM though.
Oh and you obviously must be rooted lol.
1. Download the .zip file of the animation that you want.
2. Drop that .zip file into your /system/media folder (of which you will see a "bootanimation.zip")
3. You can either move the default file somewhere else or delete it (doesn't really matter)
4. Rename your new animation to: "bootanimation.zip"
5. Reboot and voial(l)a!

All u need to do is download it.just look in the forums for it and once downloaded.just put it on your SD card and install it from cwm.u install it by going to Install from SD then choose from SD then it should be all the at the bottom

do i need to do anything with the power on sound? or do i just install the whole bootanimation.zip as a whole?

in rom manager, i select download rom, it says that i must have clockworkmod recovery installed, then it tells me to confirm phone model,,, but i don't see samsung galaxy prevail
what do i do?

Nope leave that alone - it won't work with stock gb (what it came with outta the stow) and btw - sound doesn't work with custom roms either without some tweaks that I haven't messed with.

unless you like having an expensive paperweight DONT USE ROM MANAGER TO FLASH CWM. Your phone model is not available you need to use the cwm here and use odin to install it.

I use CM7 right now but that doesn't mean it's the best - I say try 'em all and see for yourself cuz it's all a matter of preference.

MAKE SURE YOU MAKE A CURRENT BACK-UP OF YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE INSTALL, I CAN"T STRESS THAT ENOUGH!!!!

First use odin to install clockworkmod recovery.

Then in cwm you can create a back up and you could also use the odin flashable image packer kuma posted.
I dont have the link handy but its in the sticky at the top.

i cant speak for the other roms..even though i hear great things...but i can tell you ctmod is the shit...very simplistic and light..with great tweeks for speed and the option to customize your own way..im sure the rest are very customizable too. i have been so content with ct i havent even tryed any other roms yett.

i found the boot animation.zip that i wanted and im having trouble,first of all imm pretty new to this but i have rooted my phone,put cwm5,ctmod2.4 and wp7 theme on it and then resd all kinds of post's regarding this and when i DL the bootanimation i remove the existing one by hooking my phone in usb mode to my pc and open the drive with the phone folder in it and then go to ctmod2.4 and open that the click on system and then click on media and then click and drag the bootanimation folder that came with the rom to my desktop and delete the 1 in the media folder so now the orig bootanimation is backed up on my desktop,then rename the 1 i downloaded to bootanamation.zip and click and drag it to the phone folder where the original ctmod bootanimation was,then close the folder and eject the phone from the drive,turn off usb mode,let scan sd,then power off and back on and just git samsung/ctmod/dark screen/homescreen and phone is ready,so i tried a couple of other ways mentioned like put the downloaded zip into the phone folder and boot into cwm5 and select the zip from sdcard but it aborts right after it starts,sry for such a long post..but thats where im at right now,any comments or advice is greatly appreciated,love this rom,my prevail rocks now,thx again guys.
