If so, I wonder, perhaps its possible to emulate that scaling feature in hardware by writing a pixel shader operation that can sample each pixel and duplicate it to the surrounding pixels to enlarge the image....

....Because, ya know, the Prevail's Adreno 200 GPU has shader capability.
No, that part likely comes from the video scaler built in to the video controller. MHL gives a direct mirror off of that path.

I've got full schematics for one of my MHL phones, I can go verify that.

Just wanted to point out that you're going to have to do a lot in software to get there from here.

Oh, no doubt it would take a lot of effort. But the results, if it were to be done successfully at a decent FPS, would be sooooooo worth it for those who are stuck on a budget and wanna have a pocket movie player/console.

Anyway, I may yet again have to hold off on getting an MHL adapter for myself, however the good news is that I just had a rather favorable job interview at Radio Shack last Friday!

Actually getting hired would be a nice change of events from my current unemployed status, and hey, I might be able to get more equipment to test due to the income I'd be getting.

Question Ever try a remote desktop / VNC setup?

I actually run a broadcast video server (wrong direction for what you want) from my prevail.

I can program movies and spots to air from anywhere I have a data connection on my phone... which makes traveling possible without fear of losing my job.

Don't see why the underlying linux can't serve a remote X session though...
