Root + Update Firmware
Hi,
I went to this site (
https://www.wuala.com/Samsung%20Galaxy%20S/Firewares%20,%20Updates%20and%20Odin/Original%20Firmwares/Asia/July/?key=AfzUZSU4SpKU
) and downloaded the firmware "I9000DXJG4.rar".
I don't like the idea of using ODIN and I've read in this and the XDA forums that I could so call rename a file to "update.zip" and put it in /sdcard.
I've done the one click lag fix using the update.zip method so I know how to do that.
My question is that does this apply to ROM updates as well?
Can I rename the "I9000DXJG4.rar" to "update.zip" and apply the update to flash my ROM.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Alan

Not without using clockwork recovery or something similar, but that's broken as of now.
