Default Reception worse after rooting

I rooted my phone with cyanogenmod 7.1.0 and now my phone has a significantly weaker signal to the point where I cannot receive phone calls in most places, specifically when I'm at home. I read somewhere that it might be an issue with my rom, but for the life of me I can't find the website where I read that. Anyone know if that would be the problem, and if not what would the problem be?

Sounds like the latest modem that CM is using just isn't that good for your region/network. You can try flashing a new modem from here (by all accounts, the JPG modem is supposed to be one of the best):

[CM7/MIUI][06.11.11] Modems + Bootloaders(MD5) - xda-developers

These are flashed from clockwork recover, and only for CM7 (not stock).

If you go back to factory you will loose CWM which means you cant flash modems anymore. Flash Darkys ROM, make your life easier

Since my SGS already has cyanogen on it, I just need to delete that zip and use Odin to install darky?
