Default (SEARCHED) SCHi500 root issue

Hey guys, I am a long time lurker, but only a few time poster....

Yes I have searched, and cannot seem to come up with a solid answer or solution.

The wife has a Samsung SCHi500 running 2.3.5 GB.

I cannot for the life of me find a working root process, or a way to revert back to 2.2, so I can root from there.

I am familiar with ADB, and with most all Linux...

Any help would be most appreciated...

Not really familiar with the Samsung stuff, how do I determine if it is the "showcase" model? Is that what the S stands for in the Galaxy S? Here is what is in "About Phone"

Model SCH-i500
Firmware version 2.3.5
Baseband Version s:i500.04 V.EH03
Kernel 2.6.35.7
Build Number SCH-i500.EH03

Is there something I am missing?

After rooting and modding several phones over the years, I figured this would be a piece of cake...

From what I am reading, with this device you have to completely replace the current ROM with a "rooted" one in order to gain that precious root...correct?

Is there a stock styled, bloatware free ROM that has root? Even if it does have bloatware, as long as it has root it will be fine...

Even if I have to replace the ROM, that's okay. Just need to make sure I have my ducks in a row first...

Every other droid I have done gains root via ADB then you run Titanium backup and start modding ROM's... why does Samsung have to be so difficult haha.

There many different ROMS out there.
Some that come rooted already, some where you need to root yourself, you are right.

It is not Samsung being difficult, it is really who ever made the ROM that decides what it includes or doesnt include.

I have SHW-M110s Galaxy S phone......
As long as you are using a ROM that has the same Model Number (I can only use SHW-M110S ROMS) you should be ok.

I am just speaking from my own experience. I have used Tegrak Kernel before as well and it came with a one click root option. I didnt have to use a different ROM....just kept the stock ROM.

So...........
If you can find a Kernel that will allow you to root your phone, you do not need to replace the ROM.
There are also ROMs out there that are pretty much stock, with the added bonus of being rooted.....
