MAKE AN INTERNAL & EXTERNAL SD CARD BACKUP FIRST IT MAY ERASE THEM BOTH
ALSO DO BOTH THE WIPES IN MOBILE ODIN WHEN FLASHING THE AGAT'S RECOVERY
IF YOU DON'T IT'S GONNA BOOTLOOP.
You will need to download and install the samsung drivers. Let them finish installing, reboot your PC. Once its back up, connect your phone to your PC and let the software install from your phone.
2. Next you will need the download an Odin tar file. I used the K23 from garwynn from sxtp devs...When its done you will need to extract the files. You can use 7-Zip, WinRar, or anyone you want. There are several chooses, I used the Rooted-Restore.exe file. Open the Tar file and extract it to somewhere you can find it. I use my desktop to can it easy. You should see a new file called Odin-OC.
3. Now that you have that, unplug your phone from your PC and turn it off.... Pull the battery to make sure it off. Put your phone into Odin/download mode. To do that press and hold volume down and power at the same time.
4. Open the Odin-OC file on your PC and open the .exe file in it. Connect your phone to your PC. Once it connects, you should see a green box on Odin that say ROM and then a number. The number doesn't matter.
5. Click Start
6. Your phone will reboot when it is done. You will see a Sprint 4G boot animation
7. Next you will need to put a custom recovery on your phone. To do that, you have to opinions. You can buy Mobile Odin off google play which will support the developer, or you can download the lite version here.
8. Once you have Mobile Odin, you will need to download a custom recovery, CM 10, and GAPPS. I used AGAT v.6.8. as my recovery. If you use a different one, make sure it is a .tar file. You can put them on your internal or external storage on your phone, doesn't matter.
9. Open Mobile Odin on your phone, scroll down to open files, navigate to your .tar recovery file and open it. It should have the file listed under Kernal. I suggest having the Inject SuperUser and Mobile Odin boxes checked. It will make it easier to revert back to stock. Click Flash Firmware.
10. Your phone will boot into recovery mode when done.
11. From recovery select apply update. Navigate to your CM10 files and flash. once its done, flash your GAPPS.
Congrats You are now running CyanogenMod 10 Android 4.1.2 for the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch
12. To revert back to stock simply download the .tar file on your phone, open Mobile Odin, select the file and flash firmware....Just a side note, doing so will reset your custom recovery back to stock as well and you will have to go through the process all over again......
Thanks JaayDog for breathing new life into this forum just as it was dying. Going to be trying this soon. Is there no way though that we can flash paranoid android instead of cm10?

Just flash the epic 4g touch paranoid ROM instead of cm10. They are both sprint ROMs and based of the same cm10 work done by epicCM team.
Doesn't seem like MMS works and I don't think 3G works either? Also, question..after the phone reboots into a sprint animation, what is that system/ROM it's on? It said 4.1.2 before I flashed CM10...just wondering if we could just keep that or if it's just needed to go forward with CM10? This process is much more confusing than the Triumph/EVO V lol.

Having trouble flashing agat after booting into sprint rom. It installs fine with ODIN MOBILE PRO but on restart it displays GS2 logo and then blackness.
EDIT:
Was able to flash CWM Recovery V5.0.2.7 in place of Agat, flashed CM10 with ease. Can't post links yet so wont be able to add link to the guide.

Paranoid Android is running great. I can now say that I've had a taste of the Jelly bean. It truly is faster than ICS and Project Butter is very noticeable. Still trying to get MMS working though, any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.
I fixed 3G on Paranoid Android. The FK23 modem that I was on only works with touchwiz roms apparently so I flashed the EG30 modem and 3G seems to be working fine. I am now at home so I can't check to see if 4G is working anymore but 3G definitely is. Follow the instructions in the YouTube video for "How to flash EG30 modem" in this post on XDA! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352310 Good luck.

I have not flashed anything yet until this mms is solved. I know when my LG Marquee was not sending mms on TING I changed the url from sprint to a ting one. Soooo
Here is my GS2 info with a rooted stock rom check it against what is showing on your phone
Type in ##3282#
Select View
Select Others
Select MMSC URL
to edit you will need MSL #. There are ways to find your MSL # on internet which I have not tried. I did try to use the APPs in Google Play but they do not work.
Good luck and report back

Yes I've tested it and it works both in PA and CM10. Remember to flash the EG30modem for 3g. Im looking for an MMS fix still. Think I have the right fix just needa test it.

good, i need 3g to work cause in my area virgin does not have 4g at all, also im going to go with PA when you get it working but i have a question, can you get rid of this bar in the rom? im assuming that it has this bar since its on the screen shots

If you need me to test it I can because I'm running PA right now.
I would only flash E4GT Roms, others may cause weird bad things to happen.
That's what I mean. But can any touchwiz based rom be flashed safely straight from Paranoid Android? Or are there some steps that have to be taken with ODIN etc.

As long as it's a Galaxy S2 rom give it a shot, I've had this phone thinking it on sprint, boost & on 4.0.4 & 4.1.2 as long as it boots into Odin mode it's fixable.
No it's whatever recovery you flashed had the wrong kernel in it all our recoveries have kernel in them. If back & forth with it all day start with the kernel just remember a new kernel flash will change your recovery so use the right one.
So I went over to the Evo V 4G forums for Virgin Mobile because when I had that phone I remember they were working on an mms fix for CM10. Upon looking it seems they have both receiving/sending now working. This is their zip that has been modified for our phone with the help of Prinny. Upon flashing it I noticed that I can now receive mms but cannot send it. I hope that with the collaboration of their forums and ours we can get sending working.

Prinny is helping out to get sending working but nothing seems to be working out right now. The dropbox link I posted has receiving working. Prinny is going to try to build the code straight into paranoid android to see if it'll work. Big thanks to him.
MMS is now fully working on paranoid android for our phones thanks to Prinny over at the HTC Evo V 4G virgin mobile forums. Here is the link to the post with the ROM that he modified to get MMS working.

Is that a full ROM, or just an MMS fix that can be flashed after you flash CM10?
Also, can anyone running CM10 confirm what happens when the phone is turned off, left off for a minute or so, and then you press the power button again, does the phone turn on instantly, or does it have a 2-3 second delay before the screen turns on?
As soon as that wake lock pause is gone I'm going out and buying this device!

The link is the full ROM rather than an MMS fix. I used to have the wake delay when running stock ROM, but after flashing Paranoid Android it turns on instantly.
Okay, so we flash the ROM and then we flash the MMS fix?
EDIT: duh.. nevermind! I'm sleepy awesome. So I'll try this tomorrow I think!
To clarify: This is CM10 Paranoid Android for our phone with MMS working Very grateful!

Well I flashed PA with the MMS fix, flashed the EG30 modem everything works as far as MMS, 3G ect.
Has a nasty glitch where the media server will drain your batter really fast, I also experienced a lot of force closes. Camera would force close a lot, the camcorder won't work at all (I even tried the fix listed on the PA site) It also shut down my phone a lot for what seemed like no reason.
Only other issue really is that the MMS fix is baked into the rom so if you try to update you will be back to no MMS.
Notebooko, did installing the ROM format your internal SD or is everything (pictures etc) still intact?
The ROM itself doesn't format the sd card but during the ODIN part you might want to take out your sd card or back up your data.

I don't seem to be having those problems. Maybe a bad flash? I've read about the mediaserver glitch, but isn't that a problem across all CM10 variants? I still have yet to run into it and my battery life is better than ever.
