Default Tethering / ROMs

I'm coming from the Windows Mobile world on Sprint and looking to upgrade. On my Windows phone, I've got a custom ROM, upgraded radio, etc. but I'm a newbie for Android.

I'm looking for The S2 4G looks like it may be a good choice for a new phone for the next 2-3 years.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Is it possible to use a hack or 3rd party software (i.e. PDAnet) to do a WiFi tether which uses the "included web" data without having to pay for the added hotspot plan?

2. As this phone becomes more popular, should I expect to see custom ROMs to provide better features, performance, etc?

Thanks much!
Mark

There are numerous wifi tether apps out there that run as 'normal apps' and won't be seen as a hotspot (no extra fees).

We can use ANY Sprint Epic Touch 4G ROM, the phone is the same. Many Boost owners have been checking out the Sprint ROMs.

Examples: Sprint ROMs ... There are non-original ROMs also, basically tweaked original ROMs.

edit: these ROMs require you to Root you phone allowing administrator level access, simple by following Guyphs tutorial.
