Yeah, that's what I had thought too. It was one of the reasons I was trying it, but his changes in 2.5 GT made me wonder.

Cool. I don't know if you installed 2.4.2 sched_mc before, but if you have any thoughts about how it compares to that version, I would be very interested to hear them.

I believe it's more that, until the source is available, he can't be certain how the governor interacts with his own kernel code. I'm using lulzactiveV2 with 2.4.2 and find it great, but that's just one user out of many hundreds.

I just slip off the case, pop the back and there it is.... (sorry, too much time reading the GNexus Pre-Release Thread.... I'm going insane)

I find battery stamina to be really good. For my usage it's ideal, as the handset spends much of the time idle with infrequent bursts of intense activity. I easily get a full day i.e. from getting up to going to bed from a full charge.

It's there by default; the upcoming v2.5 will revert to lulzactiveV1.

Wot ee sed. I've just flashed 2.4.2 Topo (not sure what the difference is between this and the standard version?) and LulzactiveV2 isn't in the options...

I must have misunderstood this: "reverted back the tweaks for lulzactive. we are back to lulzactiveV1 and if tegrak publishes the sources I will integrate lulzactiveV2"

I took it to mean that 2.4.2 has some sort of tweaked lulzactiveV1 that is being reverted back to stock lulzactiveV1 in 2.5 GT but I guess it meant lulzactiveV2.

Did you mean that where it says lulzactive in the list of governors, it is referring to lulzactiveV2 or can you see a specific governor "lulzactiveV2"?

Yes, as they behave similarly but with different parameters.

Default Launcher Pro Tip. Laggy app drawer.

Launcher Pro Tip

For any of you that might be experiencing any jerkiness or lag in the Launcher Pro App Drawer on any of the Siyah kernels then do as follows:-

Homescreen > Menu > Preferences > Advanced Settings > High quality scrolling (untick) > Use 3D drawer (untick)

Some of gokhanmorals releases do not require this, 2.2beta6 and 2.2i, whilst others do, such as the current 2.4.2 topo.

Hope this helps.

Ive reverted to making my phone look and perform as best as it can. I dont want a delimited phone because I might get a bit extra battery from it. I am using the SPB Shell launcher once more as its the most useful and advanced launcher bar none. I dont see the point of this phone if you run it at 800 MHZ on a battery saving governor with all the background settings turned off. What a waste. Go buy a nokia

My two cents

Gokhanmoral sent me 2.5 to test the video playback issues. It seems to have fixed it for me. Lost 1% overnight, lost 6% from 7.30am till now (that includes 45 mins internet audio streaming over bluetooth to car stereo, 10-15 mins browsing). Feels smooth as ever, All good so far

Good to hear that it's performing well.

I notice that gokhanmoral has added even more to the changelog since yesterday.

Siyah kernel GT Edition v2.5 is up!

SiyahKernel for SGS2 | "One kernel to rule them all"

Might be a good idea to do a wipe using the Ultimate Kernel Cleaning Script before installing this kernel. See here:-

[SCRIPT]Ultimate Kernel Cleaning Script - 4.0 [MIUI/CM7 and SAMSUNG] [13.11.11] - xda-developers

UPDATE

As smooth as 2.4.2

BLN working

HD video recording and playback, 1080p, working

Was just about to ask about the cleaning script - does this need to be done when installing the kernel through the kitchen?

Yes it does.

You will need to download it from the link I posted and install it on your SD card and flash it before installing the new Siyah GT 2.5 kernel.

Great news!

Just out of interest.... From my Desire days I seem to recall teh advice that a ROM or Kernel needs to bed in for a few days before it becomes stable and you see meaningful battery performance, etc. Is this the case with the S2, and if so surely it's better to flash a kernel and wait a few days before making a judgement on battery performance and then flashing the next version?

Never experienced or heard of that before with kernels.

As far as I am aware they should work straight out of the box.

You may be confusing it with ROM's which do need a "bedding" in period.

You're both correct imo.

A kernel will do its thing 'straight out of the box', but objective comparisons as to performance can only be made after a day or two of use.

Having said that the first thing I did was run AnTuTu to compare v2.5 + lulzactive vs v2.4.2 now that v(r) is the default governor.

You know it has to be done, if only for a quick-and-dirty comparison.

That 1200MHz result is very similar to mine using ondemandx (6073) - I bench using my working config to give me 'real-life' comparisons whenever I breakoptimise something.

No problems with v2.5 so far. I've switched to ondemandx as I know Gokhanmoral prefers stamina over performance, so I'm intrigued to discover why it's his new favourite.

I wondered why the switch too. Are you using any Profiles or u/v on this one?

The reason I ask is that I'm using 2nd Core's Dynamic hotplug and never bothered with a Sleep profile with smartassv2 as it was set to the minimum whilst screen was off and Deep Sleep was very, very, good.

Just flashed 2.5 GT, seems quick and smooth with smartassV2 (200 - 1600)

Now I want a theme in BRG...

I'm undecided which governor is best for me at the moment. Lulzactive and Smartass are both very smooth. Ondemandx is giving me lag with my browser and lionheart keeps turning my phone off.

I've been using SmartassV2 with previous Siyah kernels but I'm interested to see if I get better battery life with this (Ondemandx). I'll see how Lulzactive goes too in a few days time (presuming there isn't a 2.6!).

I'm trying the ondemandx governor at the moment.
This switched my phone off once over the last 5 hours. Thought it might be a problem with it coming out of deep sleep but it's not happened since so I shall such with it to see how I compares with battery drain overnight tonight.

Usage seems excellent so far. Can't complain at all about smoothness on both go launcher and tw4.5

Apart from my usual uv settings (once I'd confirmed they still worked) everything is as Gok intended. I'm leaving it for a while before doing any tweaking, just to get a feel for this one.

I stopped using a screen-off profile when the governors started getting clever and taking care of it themselves.

Amazing! How the heck do you get over 6000 on stock cpu?

Edit: More on-topic, I got impatient and used Mobile Odin to flash 2.5 GT. Works fine! I dare say it's faster than ever! It upped my AnTuTu from 4950ish to 5551! But that might be because I'd just restarted too :P

Edit 2: Closed all applications:
