Default Sgs2 battery icon flashing

Hi,
I'm on neat rom and the battery icon has started flashing for no apparent reason.
Anyone know why this might be?

Boot into Recovery, wipe cache and Dalvik and re-boot and re-calibrate your battery. See if that solves your problem.

Could well be. Try using Hawker's, soft toothbrush method of gently cleaning the USB port, as that may help.

just tried that, and brielfy stopped flashing and showed battery percentage level. then it started flashing again.

guess it's time for a new port, luckily only a few quid on ebay.

Thanks for the help.
