Default New to Galaxy S2 Rooting

Hi guys, my lady friend has just got a galaxy s2 and I've no idea how to go about rooting and she uses a mac. Are the instructions on this site safe?

How to Root AT&T Galaxy S2 on Mac or Linux! [SGH-i777] | Galaxy S2 Root

And are there any risks like bricking the phone and stuff unlike an iOs phone?

Her current firmware is 2.3.3

There is always a chance you can brick your phone, I would follow the instructions in this link:

I recently rooted my S2. My first attempt was on my Mac using the linked instructions. Although the installed app seemed to work when typed into the command line, it did not root my phone.

I resorted to rooting it on my PC using the instructions included on the galaxys2root website. All went well

I used the directions in the link provided by the OP. No issues here.
