The method isn't working for me. My girlfriend uses the tab and hadn't used it for about 2 weeks. Plugged it up because I figured it was dead after 2 weeks of no use. Well it won't turn on. Tried your method and no dice.

Plug it in and leave it for 24hrs.
Come back the following day and un-plug and try again.
If it still does not work plug it back in again and try the method one final time only this time whilst plugged in.

I finally ended up sending mine in to Samsung for repair Beards, not because if this although it certainly did it several times. I kep timing out every time I tried to do anything that accessed the internet. This would happen whether I had 2 bar or 5 and even if I did a master reset (several times) and did nothing more than sign in with my gmail account. Changing SIM cards didn't help either. Just could never consistently access data. I get the thing back today I'm happy to say because I missed it terribly. Hopefully all will be well in my Tab world now.

Hey Beards, got my Tab last night and everything worked fine EXCEPT I had a hell of a time downloading ANYTHING from the Market either over 3G or WiFi. Even with my other problems, I could always download over my WiFi. It took me the better part of the night just getting everything and I'm still missing a few things because they WON'T download. It'll say Download Failed or just won't do anything at all. WHAT is going on with that? Once downloaded, everything works great.

Hey Beards, I went over into the Galaxy Tab Owners group and not much there so I'm trying to get that thing going if you want to lend a hand. Any other Tab users out there, please join the Tab social group in this forum. Lets get things going!
Connie,
I have subscribed to that topic so if there are any posts I will receive an immediate email.
Obviously I'll support you if there is a need but I don't have time to be involved in group chats sorry.
Amy,
What you need to do is press and hold the power button whilst at the same time touching the screen (you may have to wait up to 30 seconds as it clears the system).
You will then notice the battery indicator pops up.
The Tablet will then reboot .
Everything goes back to normal.
If that fails to work ~ Connect the power cable and repeat the above steps.
prior to reading this blog i did try to press the power button and the screen at the same time, but i guess i wasnt doing it long enough for it to work. THANKS for this info!

Also found out that one of the HD Wallpaper apps I downloaded would actually turn my tab off and cause all kinds of issues. Are there any apps actually made for the Tab? I keep my eyes open but....
Got things running reasonably well now but I'd like to see more developers taking advantage of Tab's form factor.

I've just attempted to update my Galaxy Tab with the downloaded software from the website, but now the device went blank not being able to boot up totally. Can anyone tell me if this is a software or hardware issue with my tab as a result of unplugging it from my laptop when there was no response to the reboot after the completion of the first phrase of software update using the Odin-1.7.
Would be grateful to hear from anyone with an expertise advice and answer at my email kimotoyol@hotmai.com
Hi,im newbie to SGT. I got this issue where my SGT get turned OFF and cant be ON. I've tried the method mentioned in this thread to press and hold a while the ON button simultaneously touch the screen. It works now. Thanks. But i have other issue where my SGT was rebooting pretty long time and it kinda vibrates loudly. I cant turn it ON of OFF or do anything so i just wait until the battery low and recharges it back? May i know why this rebooting happen out of nowhere? Thanks in advance.

When you say you can not turn it on do you get anything at all by pressing the power button?
Also, have you tried the 3 button Recovery method ~ With the phone powered off hold down Home, Volume Down & Power buttons.
You should then see a text based screen where you can perform certain items to try and wake the phone up.

Right this is what I want you to do.....
Make sure the phone has a good charge as you are going to have to leave the phone switched on for a long time...
First press and hold the power button until you get the Logo screen.
Now leave it... walk away and don't touch it.
Leave it like this... could take 20 minutes, could take 30 or could take over an hour but the thing to do is simply leave it alone.
If the power stays on then the phone is trying to recompile it's userface.
Come back and let me know how you get on... I don't monitor the Galaxy S forums these days.
I tried all of your advice.... however, the screen is still black, nothing else appears in the screen. just bought at Best Buy 2 weeks ago, everything gonna well before it suddenly could not turn on today. pls help me....

Do you get the soft keys lighting up at the bottom?
If so that would indicate you have power to the Tab.
Let us know if you have.
Beards,
I just bought a Galaxy Pad 32GB with android 3.1 and last nigth I recharged for the first time, besides when I unpacked it, this morning the pad was dead. I tried what you mentioned (holding the on button and touching the screen) but so far no results. I even tried plugged in and no results. I live outside US and down here people from Samsung don't have any info regarding the Galaxy Tab so I can't not contact them for support. Do you have any inputs how I can fixed it? Should I use the volume buttons?
I'd appreciate any inputs from you.
Best,
LH

The new Galaxy Tab's running on Android 3.1 are different beasts altogether.
Unfortunately I have very limited information on how to get one of these back to life.
As I asked a previous member is there no life whatsoever showing on the Tab.... i.e. no lights, no power showing at all?
Did the Tab work at all?
What I am trying to establish if it is a power related issue or hardware on the Tab.

Not really, the Tab is dead.
What I am trying to establish if it is a power related issue or hardware on the Tab.
I think it is related to the OS. I contacted Smasun support and they asked me to press some buttons while disconnecting the power source, but didn't work....
They recommended to return it since the warranty is ok until 06-2012
My problem is quite similar to that of LH1963 Beards, it is a new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 32 GB just released in June.
nothing else happened when i tried all of the methods. it has only two buttons: power and volume so nothing is lighting up at the bottom of the tab. . Could you have any idea about it, Beards?
I bought it in the US but now i am outside the US so it is difficult to make a return if i have to do so. Who should i contact with to make a return? LH1963

Yes, the pressing of the buttons you mention are related to a similar procedure the original Tab has.
Normally this action is enough to wake the Tab.
However, if there is absolutely no life at all even after several button presses then it points to a hardware issue.
With a software issue you should be able to bypass it, even if it were only to generate lighting on the soft keys.

I'm sorry but I don't have enough access knowledge on the new 10.1 Tabs.
I'm hoping to have it soon but that doesn't help you.
For returns if you can not return it to whom you purchased from you then need to contact the nearest Samsung Service Centre.
There are plenty around so finding one shouldn't be too difficult.

I contacted 1-800-7267864 for support and they told me that I'll need to contact 817-2305230, in Fort Worth-TX, for further instructions to return the Tab. It's important to mention that sending an eletronic to US and abroad after repair is another issue. I'll contact them tomorrow and will see
Thanks Beards and LH1963
I ll try to find some way out this problem...
by the way, pls let me know about what they will instruct you, LH1963. Maybe, it could help me too.
