So Bethesda has put out a teaser trailer for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Even thought they said they were not working on another one. ( those liars :P) Ill put up a video of it later, or you can google it for now.. Looks like it should be pretty good. I'm excited
Anyone play the previous Elder scrolls and do you plan on playing this one?

I will be playing this game. I loved oblivion. I put over 100 hours into that game (small compared to some people out there) will play the crap out of 5 if its half decent.

Looks like you'll be adding another 300+ hours into Skyren lol
Not trying to be the jack a$$ here, but its "Skyrim", not "Skyren"... No offense intended. But, the game is going to be AWESOME! They're supposed to be using a new engine for the game, kind of a happy middle between the unreal engine and the havok, from what I've read. So the physics and realism should be amazing. And there's never been an ES game with a bad story line or gameplay. So ready for it!!
It looks amazing, I have over 120hrs invested in one playthrough of Oblivion GoTY for PS3. I barely have even started the main quest line in the game so I am looking forwards to how things are gonna end up. My PS3 is gonna beg for mercy when I manage to get Skyrim.

you guys make me feel bad, I need to get out of my house more!!! I put over 300 hours into daggerfall, close to 1200 hours on morrowind, and I don't even want to get into Oblivion... And those are just the game play hours, not including modding time and researching/testing out other peoples mods. I played more than 30 different games of morrowind (my third game I beat the main storyline in 1.5 hours on the XBOX, I stumbled into the bound weapon/stats cheat, which caused the game to crash when I beat the last guy with 2 hits... it was fun, I only did it once, and I kept playing for years afterwards) I still have Morrowind installed and actually played it in January for about 8 hours before I got sidetracked. I prefered Morrowind to Oblivion a lot, I spent more time modding and finding/researching/testng others mods than playing. I only ever closed two oblivion gates, although they kept opening up all over, I spent too much time running around doing side quests and trying to build up skills and reputation when I did play. Maybe that is why I liked Morrowind better, I felt less pushed to do the main storyline, and as such I just played and played and played.
There were games I played of Morrowind that I had over 100 saves for just the one game, I'd get to a point to make a choice and I'd save, make one choice, play another 20 hours or so, then go back to the previous save and make a different choice and play that way for a few hours to see if I prefered the results. Some people say that is "cheating" but it is what I liked most about the ES series, many choices you make change teh rest of the game, but you can save whenever you like, so you can always check out "what could have been".
I remember shortly after Morrowind came out (I had it on the XBOX for about 6 months before I got the PC version) I was not sleeping, I'd gotten the game, started playing, would stop to go to work, then come home and pick right back up again until I had to go back to work!
I am hopong for more mobile games from bethsoft, I think they would do well on Android, I guess the limiter would be the graphics and storage space, but this has improved greatly with the newer devices.
I normally wait on PC games and do not buy them until the first or second price drop (around the time the console versions go Platinum), it will be the same for TES V, unless they make a linux version, as I am no longer running windows on any of my machines, except in virtual machines.

I loved rpgs back in the day. but I have never really played one that was not made by Square. I played Fallout 3 and New Vegas if you consider those RPGs.. but ehhh

I really hope skyrim is not like it, but with fallout, I feel like I am always walking, and I rarely run in to enemies unless I am in some kinda cave... none of the missions were very engaging either.

If Oblivion is any kind of example, you definitely won't have any problems with that. The lands are vast, but once you get to the quest area - you have plenty of shit to kill and do. I'm thinking that the side quests are what will make Skyrim amazing since I personally believe that's what set Oblivion over-the-top.

I dunno I loved the Fallout sidequests.... The Republic of Dave... The canibals The space alien... the old lady with a radio tower. So much stuff.
Oblivion was much more vast for sure. But I had no issue with Fallout.... it was supposed to be a wasteland and all
Still.... I probably shouldn't admit this in this thread but I'm more excited for Deus Ex

I found the same with Fallout, whilst the missions themselves were ok, there was far too much aimless meandering.

I don't think I even made it to any of those side quests... Maybe I suck too, but I felt every battle was how well I could backpedal while aiming, or Boone taking shit out before I even saw it.

Well i suck right with you. Just couldn't bring myself to play it anymore. Think I got to some town and messed around for a bit, then never turned it on again.
I'm serious lol that was like the lamest section of the game except for the ending.... there's like 40-60 hours of fun inbetween those two crappy parts

I wasted many hours on Oblivion, but never beat the game because of the leveling system. Is Skyrim going to have the same style of leveling where the baddies and quests level with the player, or will it take the traditional approach? The game looks beautiful, but i may skip it if it takes the Oblivion route; or wait until its on ebay.

It's safe to assume the same approach. That was the best part of the fighting aspect, that the monsters leveled up with you.

To be clear, I thought the game was amazing. I really did drop quite a few hours into it. What I couldn't wrap my head around was the leveling system. I had never played a game that employed that strategy, so being my novice self I leveled the heck out of my character without any real thought to how I should grow my character. When I came back to work the story, my skill level wasn't able to match that of the quests and I was doomed to screwing around doing side stuff.
I did manage to complete the master thief quest line, which was awesome, and became the Grey Fox(I think that was the name).
I think in the end, I know I could have simply restarted the game and done everything correctly, but it just burnt me knowing how many hours I sunk into it only to have to start over because of my ignorance.

Yeah there was something very wrong about the leveling system that had people run-jumping to try and level minor skills before a major skill leveled....or weird stuff like that.
