Default Marvel vs Capcom 3

Anyone buying this game? PS3 or XBOX360?

I miss fighting games. I thought Super Street Fighter IV was ok but this is the one that might bring me back to console gaming.

What do you guys think?

Wish it was still 2d. Might be good, but I hear all of the characters specials/fight styles are very similar.

I like the new look. Especially the cut scenes right before they do their special move.

I'll probably rent it first. I loved MvC2 on the PS2, and I even downloaded it for my 360, but none of my friends play it, so that takes some of the fun out of it.

Same here. I'll rent it from GameFly. It's not very likely that I'll purchase it at all since I have quite a few games coming out within the next 3 months that will occupy me.

Those people who had the chance to play the game early (promotional offers, conventions etc) still have mixed feelings, a lot of people are saying its good, some are saying they are unsure. Then there is the large majority of people (like me) who have only seen videos and pictures, and so to us it may look good/bad never really know. So I'm assuming a lot of people will be excited about it, but within few weeks im sure there will be alot of unhappy customers who will return the game, just like street fighter 4/ssf4. I'm still unsure my self, so i guess i'll probably wait a while before buying it.

it's still technically a 2d linear fighting system. Only the supers(some) are in 3d. Gonna be great tomorrow!!!!

Bought it on release and I've enjoyed it so far. I like the selection of characters and that they brought back individual character music and endings. Also, I was quite entertained with some of the character interactions before and after battles. I was a bit skeptical of the new button format with the dedicated launch button but I'm starting to like it much better than MVC2's control scheme.

Overall, I think it's a great improvement over MVC2. I can't speak for everybody though, I enjoy most fighters.

Ordered mine online the other day, amazon had em for a GOOD price. Have played it though, and I must say, it's a Fun game. Having played street fighter and Tekken More (last time I played mvc was on the ps1 lol) and its a nice fun game. Although I did get beaten by a 8 year old kid (maybe younger)....had to walk out the shop in shame.

I have all three versions and mvc3 perfectly constructed. The button layout is very simplistic to counter the complexity of gameplay and moves. I liked the 6 button system from MvC and when MvC2 came along i hated it and almost never played it. Now....its great

Air combos and team combos are super easy to do. Graphically, this is the best fighting game I've seen.

I like the six-button layout as well, particularly on the arcade version. Being forced to use the triggers on the Dreamcast controller never did me well.

I was interested until they didn't include Megaman... Don't get me wrong, I love Zero, but hes not the Blue Bomber.

+1. I was disappointed too. Maybe he'll be downloadable.

They got rid of some great key fighters (Stryder, HEEELLLOOOOO!?!?!?!?!?!) and added worthless ones (She-Hulk - W T F ?????). It's a fun game, but I still prefer 2 (as I pretty much knew I would). I do stand corrected though, it is still a 2d fighting system, which is good. I'd have a lot more fun with it if the fight stick wasn't a million bucks. I'll probably grab it for ps3 used alongside a fightstick if I can score the two together for ~$60 down the road. I don't see it keeping its value like MVC2 has.

I really wish DLC characters were free to try in Training Mode so you can mess around with them and try them out before you throw down $5. Then just simply require someone to buy them to get to use them in every other mode. There were plenty of characters I thought I would use, but I just hate how they feel and their mechanics. Only free in Training Mode allows someone to check it out instead of blindly throwing $5 and hoping they enjoy playing with that character.

Level 3 X-Factor is just stupid. Just make it Level 1 X-Factor and alter the time it's up for the levels 1-3. I love the mechanic of being able to cancel any move and to avoid chip damage and the extra speed and damage boost, but the extent of level 3 damage is ******ed.

The roster for MvC3 is well done in my opinion. Aside from missing a few key characters, it's really balanced and each character is capable of being played on a tournament level. MvC2 had a huge roster but it boiled down to only 10 of the same characters being used over and over. Also She-Hulk is far from garbage, her bread and butter does 600k+, pretty damned good if you ask me.

I still play it and enjoy it, but I doubt this game will last ten years in the tournament scene like MvC2 did.

I'm going to rent it friday, maybe. I'm tied into Medal of Honor right now, so I might have a hard time getting away from that.

Am I to understand there are downloadable characters?

EDIT: After reading a bit all I really found was $5.00 worth of costumes. Is that all this is? If so, not interested! LOL

DLC characters are $5 a piece. So far there is Jill Valentine and Shuma-Gorath (spelling). There's also those costumes they're charging for. They're charging for Shadow Battles too, which are supposed to be AI versions of some of the developers that mimic their playstyle and combos.

Rented this game, and somewhat disappointed. Maybe because I don't player fighter games too much, but it just doesn't do it for me. Damn it.

Wow. What a rip. $60 for the game and then having to pay $5 a pop for downloadable characters?

This game let me down. It's a decent game, but I don't like this nickle and diming BS. It'll hit the bargain bin. When it does, I might consider it as a purchase.
