I'm new to my Android tablet. It's not a branded one. I am living problems with the unlock pattern thing. It does not accept my unlock pattern. So I can not login to device now. I've read a lot of threads in this forum saying that device will ask Google e-mail and password after 5 wrong entries. But I think this is not an Android standard, but the device manufacturer. Because I've never been asked about my credentials even if I try 50 times. I just get 30 sec pause between 5 tries.
Thanks for fast response. There is no way to reach to manufacturer. They do not respond. I keep on trying for over a week with no luck.
So what is exactly a hard reset? Will I lose the operating system on it? Why I'm asking is I'm not sure if I can install an operating system back on it or not. But if I lose only the files and applications I've installed on it, then it's OK with me. I can do a fresh start with it.
How can I initiate a hard reset? There's nothing on the manual
Best,
Ali

To do a hard reset on the tablet you'll need to power the tablet down and then try to boot into the recovery menu. A popular way to get into recovery is to power up the device while holding down the power button, home button, and volume up buttons. Unfortunately, however, this does not always work with all tablets.

Thanks for your response. However, as you've already mentioned, the key combination does not seem to work on this device. While holding down the keys, it first seems to be booting normally, then shut down itself (I think because I'm holding down the power button).

Any other idea?

Unfortunately this is the challenge sometimes with Chinese knockoff tablets. They don't always build the tablets to the same specifications. I read a post on another forum that stated that some of these tablets don't even have recovery menu's. In that instance it's recommended to re-image the tablet instead.
Thanks once again for the detailed response. This tablet issue become a nightmare for me. Would you mind if I ask how to re-image the tablet? I'm ready to do that. Currently I cannot use the tablet, if I fail while re-imaging then I'll have no tablet to use Not much difference
