There doesn't appear to yet be a list of apps that are optimised for Honeycomb, so here is all that are currently available. List was partially ripped from another source, but I have added a bunch more and tidied it up. I will try to add any new ones, but please let me know of any you come across.

Wink Apps List

Well I think there are a number of folks like me that are waiting for their tablet to be delivered. But thanks for posting, I am putting together a list of the apps that I plan to test drive.

Thanks a bunch for this list! I find it very annoying that Google has yet to create a separate app store for tablets only.

This should be stickied.

Major thanks for this. Getting ready to buy a Xoom, and was just wondering if there was a list of tab only/optimized apps. Agree also, this needs stickied.

Hey all,

I figured I'd let this forum know about this new honeycomb twitter app from the Newsr developer. It has a nice interface and he is working fast on updates and a widget.

Forum link.

Springpad and Catch: Note keeping apps in the vein of Evernote.

Plex: Streams video from desktop to Tablet, transcoding in the vasy majority of cases, which sucks, but it does work well.

Tablet Wallpapers: 10.1 inch free wallpaper app.

Edit: Oh and Feedly, a google reader app.

Paradise Island- Games
Buka HD- Games
Tv Show Stream- Entertainment
Qbism HD- Games

Party foul on my part. VTL launcher does not work. Sorry.

Grave Defense HD works really well on my Asus Transformer.

Feedly is also quite neat (though landscape didn't work).

Feedly has now had a big update, and it works really well. Very impressed.

Also started using Thumb Keyboard which is getting daily updates, works really well on my Transformer.

Don't most apps work on Honeycomb?

Here are some I have which make use of the larger screen on my Xoom:
Android System Info (tool), Astro (file manager), Catlog (tool), Earth, JetCarStunts, London (Tube map), Simple Spreadsheet, Thinking Space (mindmap), WeatherPro.

And my kids:
Angry birds (various versions), Art of Glow (makes nice patterns), Kids Shape Puzzle HD (and related games), Paintjoy Pro, Springle (makes nice patterns), The New Baby (children's story).

My own app, Clesh (for Cloud video editing) has various Honeycomb optimisations beyond using the larger screens (mostly aimed at the Xoom): it uses both CPUs at the same time, and it has different versions optimised for NEON and non NEON CPUs (ie Tegra in the Xoom and Atrix).

NVIDEA leaving out NEON in this version of the Tegra was a mistake, IMHO, but with dual A9 chips like the Samsung Galaxy S2 starting to include it, I think it's still worth developing for it. With any luck, in a couple of years, all devices will include it.

Obviously many apps work on Honeycomb, but are not optimised, may force you to use portrait view, stretch buttons and other elements in a peculiar fashion or just don't look right. Others however look right at home on Honeycomb without any specific adaptations, and it's those that should be included on this list along side those that are officially fashioned for Honeycomb.

Tweetcaster HD is a great visual improvement over the standard Tweetcaster and will be added to the list shortly.

Will add others soon.

Bunjiweb,

Feedly is a newsreader, and its very very good.
Found another reader too, Newsr

Both of the above, are in my opinion, better than Pulse.

Flight Control looks brilliant on my TF101.

Bang Bang Racing THD is a great top-down racer, multiple control methods too.

Found a new Facebook client called Friend Me last night.

Quite impressed, though it does lack some key features. Its optimized for Honeycomb.

Miles better than Friendcaster or the official (shocking) app.

Its not bad, think it still needs a lot of work but at least the interface is designed specifically for honeycomb!

My Xoom has just imploded (ie black screen and no response). This is a pity, as I use(d) it a lot. Is there an easy fix for this?

While I find time to take it in to be fixed, do people have any other recommendations for similarly good Honeycomb 1280x800+ 10" tablets? [I'm lucky enough to get to buy lots of different devices to "test" my software :-), but there don't seem to be many similar Honeycomb devices in the UK]

Cozi Calander works and will fill in the full screen of the Gtab perfectly also widgets for it work (its a shared calander/to do list that will automatically sync between phones..my wife and i use it. She adds to her calander and minute later i have it on mine..i add to the grocery list and seconds later..she has the the list. Its a great way to merge/synch your calander, grocery list and to do list between family members).

glad i found this list because i wasted some time looking under Applications Forum. maybe this should be moved to there as a sticky or sub-forum?

anyway, here's my modest contribution:

games - 4 player reactor, alchemy-genetics (original alchemy probably will work too), 3d bowling, chalk ball, (glow hockey worked initially, but not now)
productivity - tabnotes, pen supremacy, convertor
LWP - thunderstorm
music, video - kid tv, ghosttown, ustream
browser - opera mobile, maxthon mobile for tablet

Hey all,

I released my first app for Android, specifically for Honeycomb 3.0+.

Calculations 3.0: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.spymek.calculations

Its a multi-function calculator app that has
  • Advanced Calculator
  • Unit Measurement Conversion (length, area, volume, weight, time, temp)
  • Mortgage Calculator
  • Currency Converter (Real-Time)

Would love to have it added to your awesome list (just downloaded Feedly on my Xoom -- sweet).

It's gotten over 500 downloads in its first week, hopefully the design and functionality are appealing to those who want more than the basic stock calculator. There is a pro version available too for $0.99 that eliminates the ads (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.spymek.calculations.pro).

Thanks! Wish everyone the best!

I haven't added to this for a while, but their are a couple more apps that I think are excellent:

SketchbookX Express by AutoDesk is a fantastic art/design app ... I was blown away with how easy it was to use. Very comprehensive too.

Dual Battery Widget - perfect for my Transformer. Shows battery levels for both Tab and Dock. Must have app for Transformer owners.

Wi-Fi Anyalyzer - had this on my phone for ages, but it works really well on my Tablet too. I used it yesterday to work out why my Transformer wouldn't connect properly to my local AP at work ... it was on ch13 ... and my Tab doesn't like ch13 (documented elsewhere on web). Works brilliantly now with a tweaked AP. Anyway, very useful and comprehensive.

Cheers

Pete

Very nice list! Would you think most of these are optimized for tablets? Since tablets are what is mostly running 3.0 at the moment?

Just curious if people still need this thread updating, it's been a while but more and more apps are suitable for HC or ICS now, I haven't bothered updating recently!

If there's enough need I can go through and update further...

Shouldn't think so, a lot of them now support tablets without making specific versions. If anyone's interested though, Android Police do an occasional "the best recent tablet apps" feature.
The most recent being http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/07/04/15-best-android-apps-for-tablets-from-the-last-6-weeks-51812-7412/
