Very Specific Tablet Needs - Parental Controls
Preface: I own a Xoom and a Nexus One, I'm not new.
So, I'm looking at getting a tablet for a child. This tablet's main purpose will be watching videos I load up on it, and listening to music I load onto a Google account through Google music, and playing games I download onto it.
However, I want pretty much everything else to be blocked. I know there are a couple of Parental control apps, but I can't seem to find any that do exactly what I need. One of them will completely remove the unwanted apps from even being seen... but in that case I'd need physical access to the device every time I want to load a new game onto it (remotely install from the Market... but physically access the device to unblock it).
I'm not interested in the Fire (unless I can throw Honeycomb/ICS on it) because I don't want it linked to an Amazon account. All the movies/videos I'm going to throw on it have already been downloaded and are stored on a hard drive somewhere.
Anyway... if anyone has any thoughts on what a good tablet would be for this purpose, I'm all ears.
- I don't want to break the bank, refurbished is fine.
- Don't want it to be too big or too heavy for a child.
- SD Card Support or really big internal storage (I have lots of movies I want in there).
- Headphone jack a must.
Edit: No iPads. I have philisophical differences with that company.
