Default Which tablet is the best - June 2012

Heya Guys!

First of all, thanks for all being on here and helping guys like me out - you reading this right now- Yes you: You are cool.

SO:

I am going to buy a tablet for my ladies birthday upcoming (June 8th).
I live in the UK
I know a fair whack about android stuff (have had android phones since they came out)
I am committed to NOT buying an iPad (woop woop!)
I have between 200 and 500 - ideally the cheaper the better
I don't mind buying things second hand or refurbished

With this site and some others I have found loads of options, in my head the front runners are:

Asus Eee Transformer - t101 / Prime / 300
Samsung Tab 10.1 - 1 / 2
Acer Iconia - 510 / 700

First of all, the best of the list. Of these, Am I correct in thinking that the newest models are:

Asus Eee Transformer 300
Samsuung 10.1 2 (not yet released)
Acer Iconia a510

Weirdly, the Asus 300 can be imported to the UK from USA a LOT cheaper than I can buy a transfomer prime? This makes no sense...But anyway...

To Sum:

I would like some advice from you guys, what your experiences are and what do you think would be a good purchase for my young lady. What's the best "bang for buck" that someone who knows nothing about tablets can get? I don't need the MOST EXPENSIVE I need a good one that is great value for what it does. She won't be doing anything other than apps, games, surfing, mail, wifi. No 3g needed, no heavy office stuff needed either. Just a cool tablet to play around with - If you would buy a new tablet now - which one would you get?

Thank you guys SO much for your help, I'm looking forward to hear what you have to say!

sam

Welcome!
I have the Transformer Prime, and previously, the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Prime is leaps and bounds better than the 10.1. I would never buy that tablet again, at any price. It seems you're definitely committed to that size, so no 7" I presume? Of your choices, the T300f is a great choice once it is released. Nice thing about it, is aside from a slightly worse screen than the Prime, it comes in a few different colors which your lady might like. The keyboard dock is optional but really makes it a slick device. Good luck!

Heya Dread!

Thanks so much for you answer man - I shall here by strike the Samsung from the list!

So how would the t300 compare to the prime? Are there any significant differences?

Also when is it released?

Thanks all!
