That sounds about right.  Unfortunately you're dealing with firm in Shenzhen, China here. They often send out tablets that have problems, and support is usually poor or non-existent. Thing is, some of these devices coming from Shenzhen can be absolute garbage.
This is one of the dangers of buying cheap Chinese tablets from some brand you've never heard of, unlike say Samsung, Asus or Motorola.
You might want to have a look at this, it's not good news though.
