Evil,

have you checked your processor? I got my pad today and when I run any system information software they all say it is a X200 not an X220.

I don't understand why so many leave their tablets in sleep mode when at home or someplace where you can keep it charged. Plug them in so you get a full charge. Don't put them in sleep mode, most of you with GPS and Wireless on.
Come on...

All the utilities will report x200. The x200 does NOT support GPS, neither does the x210. So if your tablet has a working GPS then it has a x220 inside. The utilities just report the CPU family - not the variant.

Come on...
wireless certainly is disabled in sleep mode.....unless you change the build.prop file like this...

line 42 from
ro.suspend.unloadwifidriver=true
to
ro.suspend.unloadwifidriver=false

then it stays on to allow downloading whilst sleeping (at the expense of your battery charging!)

yes... I complained to my seller when I saw that on my pad.....he put me straight!

It's a shame isn't it that everyone feels we are likely to get ripped off.

I should have known better, I was a mod for a DS Flashcart and had to deal with people who would use things like chipgenius or debug software to try and check out the cart and would bitch about class versus model recognition, or not knowing the difference between GB and Gb.

I contacted my seller and he said he had problems in the past with suppliers sending the wrong pad in the right box, but he was pretty sure he had weeded the bad ones out.

Thanks for all the info you've share with us. I pulled the gun and got one with some random local person on craigslist. $100 bucks.. figured if I stood such a chance of getting ripped off.. i'd keep it cheap. Worked out for me, guy had a case & kb combined that he sold me for an extra 10 bucks. So far, seems everything is up to par with this unit. It's the x220, flashed to 2.2 and rooted with no issues. Worked through every market fix I could fine, with no luck. I'll keep playing with it and post back when/if I find any fixes.

Default Superpad 3

Hi

New to this forum and a bit of a novice!

Just bought a superpad 3 off ebay with the folowing spec:

16gb
Flash10.1
Model: Disco 10
Android version: 2.2-20110529
Kernal version: 2.6.32.9
Build No. FRF85B

I'm happy with the pad and it seems faster than expected, the wifi is good, the screen clear and bright, battery life about 4-6 hours etc

Poorer bits:
Low volume from speakers ( better with earphones)
Only get free apps
Can't move apps to external card
Can't get Titanium backup to work ( says could not aquire root privilages)

I have looked through the forum and I keep seeing references to Tim 3a or rooting but havn't a clue what these mean.

Do you think I can improve the superpad in any way and if so, can you please keep it simple as I am not that technicaly minded.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

The good news....
it is a disco model so it is easy, painless and pretty safe to update the firmware.
Speakers are low in volume, made slightly better with Tims firmware, currently at 5a
Paid apps is still an issue!
You can use Link2SD app to move stuff once your tablet is rooted.
Titanium backup requires root to work

Which is Ok because Tims5a is a rooted firmware! All the info you will need is in this thread..Flytouch 3 Hybrid ROM (rooted)

If you do not feel like installing a new rom you can just root the tablet. z4Root or Universal Androot should do the trick.

I had problems with my pad not wanting to root. But I used Androot and just told it not to install superuser and it worked. Then I installed superuser from Market.

But, Tim's rom is a huge difference over the stock version.

And having a genuine Apps Market Android rooted phone running Titanium Backup also helps a lot

Because since I bought it my wife LOVES it and I might have to give her mine and buy myself a new one!

So overall I can not give this product a more overwhelmingly positive review. I wish it played the NetFlix App correctly, but that was not a requirement for me so that is a want and not a need.

Does anyone know what builds these 2 are?

This is the one I currently own: Amazon.com: Superpad 10.2" Tablet PC, Google Android 2.1, Webcam, GPS, HDMI, USB, WIFI, 2 micro SD card slots: Computer & Accessories

This is the one I'm about to purchase if it has the internal tf slot: Amazon.com: Flytouch 3 Android 2.2 10.2 Inch Tablet PC: Electronics

I really don't want to crack open the case of the first one unless I'm sure it has the replaceable rom(internal memory) chip/card. Nor do I want to purchase the 2nd unless it also has the replaceable chip(hands aren't steady enough to solder). Thanks for any info you guys can provide, and I'm sorry if this is seen as a thread hi-jack.

For the one you have now just look at the build information in your settings under system info.

In the one you want to get it looks like it should be a discoxx but it is hard to be sure. But this link is to the one I just got and it is a disco10. I have already upgraded the internal card. If you look at the sellers Fl Superstore is a stand up seller. He called me back the same day I had an issue and was willing to bend over backwards til we figured it out. Plus his expedited shipping was only like $7.

Mike,

My review and experience comes form the sellers SuperSale.99 and I ended up with one of the good DISCO10 models. I do not know much about those other sellers so I would defer to others here for a more experienced answer. You of course have to be careful with all of the clones out there now.

My leather case came with my tablet from the vendor on Amazon. I think you can get these anywhere, eBay, Wal-Mart, anywhere...

Good Luck, I love mine!

"powered by amazon.com" is the branding for Amazon Web Services. A company/seller can sign up with Amazon Web Services for a monthly fee, and then their $ processing is handled through amazon. It gives them the right to use the logo, and gives you the right to use amazon's dispute system if you have problems (I think.)
