Just a bit of a note about atv1000 and the new ics with the newest firmware. I'm not a tech but my logitech webcam C200 works wonderfully on skype. Didn't see it posted, but I can confirm, Skype, Netflix, Plex and ES file explorer with installed mx player makes this little box amazing. My poor ps3 is getting no love. Hope that helps someone searching out there.

Stumbled across here while i came across a problem updating my device today, after applying the 'spi' update and all went good, the system rebooted and has been blank on tv ever since, nothing shows up at all.
Orange and blue light constantly on.
Is this a error of some sort? Has something crashed? Any way i can reverse or flash system to factory some how?

Once happened to me, but the solution went like this:
Get the 20120111 firmware, change the name to update.img and copy to either SD or USB STICK, be sure to put file in ROOT, insert memory to device.
UNPLUG DEVICE, PRESS AND KEEP PRESSED THE RESET BUTTON WHILE PLUGIN THE POWER CORD AGAIN, UNPRESS WHEN SCREEN SHOWS UPDATE PROCESS.
If all goes OK you will again have your device working.

today updated. before i did tweaks with fingerprints and all the stuff.
added maps, really not sure WHY, added BT settings, but no use of that. didn't yet tryed to reboot it to recovery for cvbs, but, hope these days i'll do that also.
bottom line, if old firmware are satisfying your needs, i really do not see any need to update to this latest fw.
One nice thing about 20120606 version is that you can adjust Output Mode and Display Position without getting forced to reboot.
I have just installed this version together with HiDTV 1.9.8.
It installed OK however there is a significant audio problem with this version.
I downloaded and tried the HiDTV 1.9.8 version and an earlier version.
When in use there is an initial audio burst for a second or two, then silence.
It is the same with streaming video via Veetle and Crackle.
YouTube gives an on/off audio that then stops as does Tune-In Radio.
Reverted to Gingerbread Version 20120111 and everything ran normally including the new HiDTV version.
I have not persisted with the testing nor did I leave HiDTV going for more than 5 minutes to see if audio did activate. Sometimes I find HiDTV takes up to a minute before audio comes on.
Has anyone else had similar problem?
UPDATE
Tracked the problem down to an incompatibility between this version and HiDTV 1.9.8.
When I carried out a fresh reinstall and tried with Veetle, Crackle, YouTube and Tune-In Radio I have no audio problems. However when then I run HiDTV the audio fails and also fails when I then try Veetle, Crackle, YouTube and Tune-In Radio again.
I get the same results when I carry out the same tests with HiDVT Version 1.9.4
One issue I see with 20120606 (Gingerbread) version is when a video is playing in full screen mode (MX Player, Youtube, etc) the play/pause and seek bar are cut off at the bottom. It's like the full screen video viewer is getting too large and not fitting the screen properly.
Actually I wonder if this is because I did not reboot after adjusting Display Position.. Let me try that.

Hocus, can you confirm how much RAM you have? I have been testing the latest ICS version and I am still thinking the Android 2.3 version is more stable. Curious to know if maybe its because I have less RAM on mine (512mb). Thanks.

Seems strange, the unit normally goes to recovery system after doing the process explained. Did you flash something different to the stuff in this forum.

Which SPI file did you put on there, and what was your Uboot and Recovery version before you applied the update?
For the above mentioned issue , you can also try a Full HD screen with 1080p resolution. Try connecting your box to it and see if you get a picture. You could also use a computer monitor which has hdmi and capable of 1080p.
I had similar issue but when connected to a HD PC monitor with hdmi i had the pictures. I lowered the resolution and connected to my main screen and had the picture backwith hdmi.My screen was not 1080p ready as it was an older model. You shud try all other non-hdmi connections on the box. Fix the resolution and then try hdmi again.

Now that I don't know what version uboot and recovery were... Does it matter does it? I'll try component cable again. I'm definite it's not hdmi cable as it was all fine until it rebooted itself after the update.

Yeah very strange ! It was on the whirlpool forums, spi update from there, may also be linked to here also perhaps.

@everst, as i know, for update from 2.x to ics there is no need to update spi, and according that, i think that you do not need to update it again. IMHO, downgrade will not even start if there is no suitable base - spi. so, you can try to downgrade it simply as that.
I have a problem with AC3. Voices are only on the right speaker, while the rest of the audio is correctly on both. Has anyone faced this problem? This happens in all the ICS releases. I am using the digital Coaxial output to active speakers with their built-in DAC. Also happens with the TV. Any help is much appreciated.

If you mean to allow you to full access the play store, the the solution is provided in posts back a page, however, if you mean to allow you to access the play store, then this is a segment of my post on a separate forum:
Basically to install the market access you need to
download the file
copy to the root of your SD card
rename it update.zip (if you have a more recent Android version installed you may have to rename it to update.img to work)
unplug power lead from the socket
hold in the black button underneath,
plug in the power while holding in the button.
A blue light will appear first then a red light.
When the red light appears release the black button.
The unit will show the message “Update failed”.
Simply insert the SD card with the “update.zip” and select the “3.apply sdcard:update.zip” option in the Recovery system main menu: or if this option is not available, the “1.reboot now” option
Please note that the or any updating process could possible brick you unit especially if the SD card is removed during the process or the power is turned off.
You do the update at your own risk.
my question is, do you guys have netflix working on ICS rom? A user named stane1983 has been custom compiling and coding kernels and roms for our atv-108 box (amlogic 8726M1 c03ref). his roms are awesome! but they dont run netflix at all? can anyone here help? also, how does the amlogic library for audio codecs convert eac3 audio on the fly to something else? i have movies that wont play because they cannot be hardware decoded by the amlogic chip but i have other amlogic devices that transcode it into another audio format in realtime and then play the movie? do you guys have eac3 audio working in yer geniatech ROMS?
A little update, i connected my atv2000 to putty via rs232 - ttl, seems there is bad problem in boot up, definitely bricked..
It seems the macronix chip inside is corrupt boot data where it stores the bios/loader, anyone have the .bin file for system boot version so i can flash it right in via eprom?

The next is a Russian site that has 2 methods to unbrick the TV box. One similar to that of the Spanish site and the second unsoldering and reflashing of the EPROM chip. This site is down until 27th June.
Note: The Spanish site refers to a different TV box model and the RX, TX, + and – are different to those of the Russian site which I believe are correct.
I have attached copies of both the Spanish and Russian methods (in Spanish and Russian) and some stuff from another unidentified site. The second part of the Russian method requires a small program to be downloaded. Unfortunately I am unable to find it on my PC and cannot upload it. on my screen when i try to use an usb mouse the mouse pointer changes to an android logo full screen green dummy) what is moveable like a norma pointer... but it is terrible...
i had this happening along with a few others in a thread on this forum for the ATV-108. it turns out it was us installing the new busybox and it was not ocmpatible with amlogic sources. so use preinstalled busybox and dont update!
10 custom pointers and new default wallpaper for ICS 0529
Hi all, I have thought to gather and prepare ten different pointers, so that everyone, if he likes,
can choose and customize his favourite one.
Inside the zipped file, you will find:
-a "png" folder with files used to prepare the update packages
-10 update.zip packages that will install 10 different pointers and a new default wallpaper.
Among them, there are also, two pointers made by cupi1234 (many thanks to him).
Unzip compressed file and copy the update.zip packages into the root of your sdcard or usb pendrive...
plug sdcard or pendrive to your device and using the inbuilt Upgrade app, try the various
update packages and choose your favourite pointer.
If you don't see the new default wallpaper, you can solve, going to:
Settings --> Apps --> All --> Settings "app" --> clear data (ok)

ICS doesn't suit my usage. The sites that I watch catch up tv on only work with Gingerbread. My issue is not so much with the text displayed in the browser but with the size of the text displayed by ES File Explorer or any file management/transfer program. The text was much larger with the previous version of Gingerbread. I would rather not roll back unless I have to.
I got my new box ATV4000 DVB-T just few weeks ago. It came with 20120111 (last year firmware). I upgraded to ICS twice and had been running 20120529 till today when i decided to record something and opened my DVB-T program and realised it was not working. I advised Geniatech Sales Manager who advised that I go back to Gingerbread which I did. I went to 2.3 20120606 and after installing the dvb software I found the same problem - no picture with full strength signal. I then downgraded again to 2.3 20120111 and finally it worked. I got in touch with Geniatech and advised them on this new find. I was simply told that M1 boxes are not a priority now as they are concentrating on M3 boxes. My newly purchased product is already being neglected by geniatech who are not paying attention to fixing up current customers and rather busy looking after newer clients who will purchase newer models. Pls be aware.The proof of the pudding is in the attachment.
Using it on my 3000, ICS looks very good, took a bit to get use to the new interface.
Like the early versions if GBM my 2TB Hard Drive Kills it (Black Screen of death either on boot up or after installation).
Speaking of which is there a Windows Based App that would allow me to create Android Shortcuts on the disk (It is a movie database, but it would be nice to create say a Western's Folder, and have it point to the moive Good/Bad/Ugly for example)
Waiting for the next version if ICS with the Hard Drive fix in it.

Understood. I will push Geniatech software team to quicken the schedule.

I think you misunderstood what he/she was saying.
You have to remember they have some new products that they are finalizing, so their engineers may be busy with that.
The way I read it was that they are saying they will still be looking after M1 products, but for right now they are busy with the M3 products so you may have to wait a little bit.

Thank you sooo much for your logs....i already noticed a difference. i think the problem has been tracked down. does netflix actually play with audio and video synced and timer runs right and it doesnt drop the stream?
