Good Evening, new in the forum, Leaving in Bangkok Thailand, I had the opportunity to buy the new Nano V500B and I have some Problem with the root. It was rooted when I buy and I can not use Vpn. Vpn in PPTP but no browser work and in L2TP the connection is impossible. At second the sd card can be read but all the program say that the sd card is not mounted. And there are other bug like that.
I try so many way that force to try to re rooted many time, now it is not rooted any more and I the sdcard work but not the VPN. I try all the images propose in this forum but no way... I try to root again and no way.. I phone and mail to Geniatech but the only reply i have is that there are bug in the VPN for Android 4.0.3 and so on.
Question is: are they possibilities to downgrade. Because the firmware who is in the machine are not on the market yet and the bootloader seem different as well. I try the firmware of Sumvision but no way.The message is ..."get prop('RO.Product.device")=="stvm3"--get ("RO.Build.product")=="stvm3" E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package img (Status7) Install abort"
I will really appreciate if somebody can help me at this point... I try so many possibilities since 2 days ..I'm down... The way that Geniatech reply to me is not not genia(l)!!!!or Geni(us)!!! Thanks lot to read me

I am looking for some help in constructing my own update.zip (or update.img) using Update Zip Packager V3.

I have followed gio965guide and video and duplicated what he did for Android Gingerbread.

I was able to replicate his ICS tweaks for ICS-0529.

· Basically I start Script.bat and selected “y”
· Copied relevant “META-INF” and “system” folders to the Update Zip Packager’s “placehere” directory
· Deleted “CERT.RSA”, “CERT.SF”, “MANIFEST.MF” in the “META-INF” folder
· Entered “2”
· Waited
· Entered “6” to exit

I updated the basic ICS 20120529 update with the tweaks and cursor

Now when I tried to add some of my apps by doing what I did above but added the folders “data/app” to the “placehere” folder and added my apps to the “data/app” folder, I get error when I try to update the box.

An examination of "updater-script" in the “META-INF/com/google/android” folder for “update_fingerprint-tweak_market-resetter_for_ICS-0529.zip” shows:

Although I can generally see what needs to be done, I am completely at loss as to the order which to do them and what to enter for some options.

All help would be appreciated as I am stumped.

enviro, all you done is good, but, you need to add/remove apps BEFORE compiling new firmware. after you add/remove apps, in system and/or user folder, then you go to "2", process needs about 2-4 minutes, depending of quantity of new apps, and after that is finished, then "6".

Hi all, I have prepared a new update package specific for GB-20120111 release.

This package will install:
-the latest 3.7.13 Play Store market
-more .xml files in "permissions" folder (for a total of 47 files)
-more .jar files in "framework" folder
-an edited build.prop (fingerprint, model, brand, manufacturer: HTC Nexus One)
for a more complete access to apps on Play Store.

Install as usual, in recovery mode, renaming the file as update.img

Hi enviro8, all passages described by you, just above, are quite correct.

If you need to edit the updater-script, you must use a specific editor.
On my PC (Windows installed), I use notepad++: Notepad++ v6.1.5 - Current Version

(This editor is specific for editing this kind of files working under linux - android.
You could use, also, wordpad but you should follow a particular procedure...)

I have tried to generate the update.zip and the updater-script, using option 1,
but I have found it rather complicated...so I prefer to proceed differently:
-I unzip the update package that I want to modify
-I make my changes (add or delete files or folders)
-I edit, if necessary, the updater-script.
-I resign the package using the procedure described in the videoguide.

I'm sure that, in this way, you will solve...let me know

XBMC is great news, hopefully it runs well on all Amlogic 8726 android boxes.

All Winner A10 players will be the second ones to get supported, other Android platforms will be a mixed bag on whether they support the hardware video decoding system used by XBMC under Android.

V510 Geniatech, finally, after many request, I receive the patch and the firmware to reinstall all properly with rooted. For who's, one day buy this media box, they have to be carefull with the Factory data reset, this give you an old version non rooted.
You will need to patch the box so that it will accept the last firmware.
Second things, the browsers non work with VPN in the version 4.0.3, we have to wait the next step or the next update. Nice day

Team Miniand make custom XBMC app compile from git source. On A10 works. On Amlogic not tested yet, but on HTC Desire works to.

Yeah the controls for XBMC dont map well to the remotes used/supplied by geniatech.

I read you can get external keyboard helper pro then remap the buttons using a custom keyamp, the keymap action you need is the d-pad center key (it's in the list from actions you can select) however they weren't able to find a key that allows you to go back that works (backspace), the actual enter key on the remote doesnt register all in the app so I used the F8 key.

Any chance gio965 you could work a little magic and include the PS3 or Xbox controller drivers in your custom images that might resolve the problem more easily & be a better controller for it too for everyone who wants to run XBMC.

One thing though the XBMC apk file out there is only a preview build it's not meant for general usage at all, XBMC team are not releasing builds publicly.

Very good post from XBMC forum, about why they chose Amlogic for reference developer platform. In this case we should have hardware support on our ATV STB's in the official release app.

My remote controller has decided to give up the ghost (batteries are OK) - anyone know how to use the ATV1000 without it? I've tried a USB keyboard but no luck - I don't want to send it in for repair under warranty as there's personal data on the box!!

wireless kb and/or mouse. the cheaper kb/mouse are, the possibility that will work is bigger! plain kb/mouse set from trust, no problem, work in recovery console and in desktop. try another one kb or mouse.

Sorry, maybe I am dumb, so what does XBMC get us that the current ATV box doesn't have? It maybe useful for those Android on a stick device, but with great support from Geniatech, I don't see how it helps. Anyone care to elaborate? Thanks.

Hello gio, I want to point an error I found, while it looks like it works with ATV1000, the market updated, the programs are available and seems to work properly, there is an error with handling the google market account, it looses all buyed stuff, maybe the problem is with the build.prop edition, or there is an error with the play store. On other hand the first time it got me a scare face when my WiFi stopped working and worked again after a full system and cache cleaning.

I got back to 20120111 firmware and added the permissions and standard framework.

1. I have 20120606 firmware now and it work very well. But now I want to use external USB drive. Connect it to usb port... And happens nothing. Where in system I can view this extra storage device ? Need I some special settings or drivers for that ? I have an idea that it should be in mnt/SATA/ but here just empty folder not my device.

2. For some reasons when I use cable connection "google play" don't download anything untill I switch of cable connection and connect throught WiFi. It's very unusefull for me every time for market switch between cable/WiFi connections.

3. Is It possible to use that device in HotSpot mode ? So that WiFi be usefull to connect other WiFi devices throught mine ATV310 throught cable internet ? If it possible how to do that ?

The setting affects both, hdmi and ac3 connector, and in RAW mode you can experience real 5.1 Sound from dolby digital sources, but, no sound from DTS. The DTS needs a driver wich parses audio to digital output, on the other hand, if you have raw and play 5.1 with hdmi you can get beeps and hiss from your tv if it doesn't handle it.

I own a Kenwood KAM-1 Digital Amplifier with full Dolby and DTS up to 7.1 or 7.2 setups. That is the equipment I use for testing my toys.

Does anybody know how I can decrease the sensitivity of keyboard and of mouse in Android 2.3.4 based firmware? I mean where it is in conf files.
I always have duplicated letters when I type.

external usb drive. first - try to plug it to one and another port. somewhere i read that usb peripherals must be plugged in second (near to back) port.
which usb you use? 3.5", 2,5". it is possible that you do not have enough power to boot it up, ergo, use power adapter for external hard. external etorage doesn't show all of file managers.
try with "and explorer". it is not so pretty to see, but it is showing external storage 100%. for es file exploer i'm not sure, but probably it shows also, only need to switch to it.
but, my favourite is "x-plore". esspecially for LAN/cloud storage. you have dual-pane screen, and all classic file manipulation tools.

cable connection. you need to turn it on first! settings and there it is. if it doesn't find it itself, than it is ok to set fixed ip address once for all. put it in same ip range as your pc is, no need to groupname, as is on windows.
it does work, i'm using it for larger file manouver.

hotspot. on my atv1000 - yes. don't know for sure for details, but i saw that option somewhere in menu (same menu where you turn on/off wifi, cable...)

The issue that you noticed, probably, could be related more to the new build.prop than to
latest play store or added framework files.
I have not any bought app from market, so I can't test your issue...
If you are interested to latest play store and if you want to test, I can prepare a new update package
with original 20120111 build.prop or modified (only fingerprint line)...which of them?

The basic issue faced is unable to run Android Market or Google Play.
Every time i start, it gives an error saying "The application google play store (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly" Force Close.
Can anyone help me with solving this problem?

Also is there a need to upgrade the android version? How should i be doing that?
I would also need the exact process to upgrade the firmware.

Thank you for answer. Whith external HDD now all fine.

Speacking about cable connection I may be with my bed english was write something wrong. Problem not with internet via cable... all work fine I can use browse email skype and all other internet access programms. Except google play. It doesn't work throught cable but only throught wifi.

By the way why can't be switched on Cable and WiFi simultaniously ?

hm... strange problem. i'm using cable and/or wifi, and GP works ok. at this moment i really can't find any idea where could be problem. do you have stock rom? did you do some tweaks (fingerprint, permissions...)? which version of GP do you have? did you try (via menu-applications-manage) to uninstall updates or symply reinstall GP? in this time i'm at this topic there wasn't souch problem...

apropos wifi-cable in same time-i don't know! ;-) yes, i also think about that in first days, and simply accepted that. altough, i think that there will be hard to divide which apps/processes will use wifi and which cable, and there will be more process collisions. so, we must accept that.

you'll have full access to google play, additional permissions etc, but, that can and can't solve your problem.

in any case, if problem persist, you'll have more operational OS!

and, as final option, you can reset box to original state and start all over. i know that is pain in the ass, but, sometime is better that way than building OS from scratches.

i have got iplayer to work, but only when i connect wireless, if i set the box to ethernet, it just sits there loading, i have tryed the setting in iplayer but nothing in there, you tube, play store works fine in lan mode, but not iplayer, i have the sumvision nano, but with the Geniatech 4.0 firmware on it.

Hello Gio, only one error in your update, the file android.hardware.nfc.xml has to be removed from permissions for the market to work properly without errors (like trying to access apps in market and fully closing down).

That seems to be all, the buyed apps are there, all installed and previously installed, all working apps and market freely.

Thanks for your support gio. You just have to make that change to make your update fully compatible with Geniatech ATV devices.
