I have plugged in a bluetooth dongle to my ATV2000 (updated to 20120730) and the light has come on but I can't find out how to enable it.
I'm trying to find a wii remote in MD.emu but it says 'bluetooth not accessible'.
Hi Daisy606, latest update20120730 has not bluetooth support, so you can't find any option to make it working.
You should install previous firmwares as: update20120420 (ICS) or update20120606 (GB)
which, both of them, support bluetooth connection.
I have tested, successfully, a bluetooth dongle "made in china" (not branded) and, installing
Bluetooth File Transfer.apk from Play Store, I was able to connect my phone to ATV1000.
This is my BT dongle:bluetooth usb dongle.png
Be careful that, not all BT dongles work but only those ones which have also specific drivers for linux/android.

roobarb, FYI, ICS is still in some kind of beta-phase or pre-release. there is no guarantie that all will work. and, on the other hand, ICS is "hungry" for resources, and it is problematic to work on 512mb of ram. so, no need to be surprised!
Now running ICS.
My media player has 512 MB RAM & 2GB Flash memory, 32 GB micro SD card.
It is struggling to play music (poweramp, but I like it).
Any suggestions for an uprgrade or a better player?
Could buy a better box.
really do not know what to say. i'm using preinstalled player for music and do not tryed nothing else.
better box is solution, but this one still could give some joy. imho, ICS is too needy for 512mb ram. try to revert to GB and then try that music player. it's great chance that it will play ok.

Hi gio,
Have you tried bluetooth handsfree?
I got one also, it can be switched on, paired, but cannot transfer audio to the handsfree or controlled by handsfree
(possibly due to it hardcoded the audio to the hdmi + RCA output)
and tried bt apple trackpad, it can move, but cant detect "clicked" event

Hi heeae, at this moment my only tests are limited to my cellular and pc
(file transfer between ATV1000 and both of them).
I can't tell you anymore regarding to other devices...
If I can test more bt devices, I will write here in the forum
I got my hands on an ATV100 the HDMI stick using 8726-M3 chipset, but I'm running into a few problems if anyone can help.
When I try to update the firmware, the Android update program sees the img/zip files, and says the system will reboot now and begin the update... only it doesn't the system powers off every time with no reboot into firmware update stage.
There's no apparent reset button on the device to force the firmware update, I might have to take it apart to see if there is.
Lastly the build of Android [V1.03.01MC03_20120712] that's runs on it is super slow, tiny apps take 10-20 minutes to install. I'm hoping the newer updateM3_4.0_20120726 firmware for M3 boxes can address this if only I could install it.
If anyone has an idea on how to force an update on these sticks I'd be happy to hear it.
Edit: Took it apart, there are some clips holding it together on both sides once they are popped out there are two screws holding it to the bottom half.
Unfortunately no reset button that I could see.
It definitely is an 8726-M3.

However the HiDTV is not performing for me. No audio except for a short initial burst.
-----
Where are you from? THIS HiDTV works ok in UK
I agree with Enviro8. I am running the 20120730 ICS firmware with HiDTV 1.9.8 and on both 1080p and 720p (using HDMI output) I get no audio after a short burst and also I get a black screen which I can't exit from....have to reboot.
Apart from that the firmware is ok and seems to be quite smooth and reasonably fast - almost as fast as gingerbread. I also installed the XBMC media centre software (xbmc-XIOS-073012.apk) and this runs well. No problems with audio sync.
If we can just get the HiDTV running it would be perfect.

I live in Australia
HiDTV worked very well with GB.
Further experimentation shows that if I leave it on for a long time, the audio eventually starts up but if I change stations it stops and I have to wait several minutes for it to restart.
In addition, unless I reboot, I have a continuing audio problem with other on line audio
At this point I would just wait for the ATV 1200 or ATV 1600 to come out (sometime in July?) with the duo core processor.
Does anyone know if there are going to be any linux builds out there for this line up?
I have a Rikomagic 802MKII and wish it was a bit snappier on the web browsing under Lubuntu. FF on android, interestingly enough, doesn't support click / drag (that I can find) on HTML elements.

AML 8726-MX boxes are slowly starting to appear on OEM sites, but I'd lobby the likes of Miniland or Rikomagic instead to sell one as their own so they can build a proper linux OS for it.
Allwinner have proven to be not very helpful when it comes to accessing their VPU under linux for media decoding whereas Amlogic have enabled access so that's one way to pitch it to them.

I´m using 20120730 ICS firmware, and it´s going pretty well. Is fast, smooth, browser is much better and web surfing is much faster than it was with GB. Video problems, and more or less solved. XBMC is great but there´s and issue that i wonder if anyone could resolve.
To access movies on an external HDD via hooked to ATV1000, via usb, i have to browse thru the root to /mnt/sdb1 (or sdb2). No problem there, but the thing is: if i turn off the unit, this settings change and XBMC can´t seem to find the video library, so i have to do the process all over again.
Is there a way to get a fixed path for external storage or mount it some way?
Thx!

Hello Folks.
Same problem, but with a Sumvision Nano slim Plus (Geniatech ATV510b).
2X2Tb HDD's, USB Hub, XBMC (sill trying to figure out), /mnt/sdb1 (or2), takes forever to read and update files, then it seems to forget them.
Help appreciated.
Other XBMC advice gladly welcomed.
Is there any way to view flash embedded websites? i.e. RTE Player
It keeps telling me to update to the latest version even though I have the latest version.
TIA.
Flash is dead on Android, no more updates. So websites that use Flash wont work any more as they request newer versions.
The only way forward for those sites are to
1) Provide an Android app to access the site which RTE don't do only for Apple iOS.
2) Switch over to HTML5 video.
I would suggest looking at XBMC on the box with Navi-X plugin, it's pretty mess to set up but Navi-X provides access to catch up TV sites.
One more thing you can try is www.rte.ie/playerxl/ that seems to support older versions of Flash so that might work for you.

Thanks for your sharing, it seems that it is a XBMC bug, agree?
1.Install MediaCenter-20120724.apk on Geniatech M3 box(current firmware is 20120726), then restart the box and run it.
2.Install other DLNA app on android phone or tablet, such as iMediashare Lite, search Local network.
3.iMediashare will find all media files from android devices and shared PC within the network. push the contents to play on Geniatech M3 box.
For example, when you choose one video in iMediashare, it will ask you to choose device to play, select AML-Intel-DRM, this is Geniatech M3 box. then, M3 box will play the video.
4.Search remote player in media center application, you can find and play contents from android phone/tablet or shared PC on box directly.
I have noticed that Geniatech website have recently posted latest update20120730.
I tried it out on atv2000, Total waste of time. Almost everything was working fine with 2.3 GB now with update most apps stop working if they work at all.
Installed google chrome browser and that doesnt work, it wasnt available on 2.3.
So back to more time wasting and go back to 2.3 and reinstall backed up apps.
If it aint broke dont fix!

I am using version 0730 form Magica, which came with Flash 10.2. Is it the case with you? I updated mine to 11 (version 11.1.115.8) and everything is running ok. I recommend you to download the apk from internet and try it.
I tried to put the link here, but it didn't work correctly. Go to google search for "Flash Player 11.1.115.8 apk". I downloaded mine from the first site.

Hi there, Netflix says it is incompatible with my device, does anyone have a link to a working .apk, or a way to upgrade the flash player? Thanks in advance
people, where to get XBMC for atv1000? i downloaded from here, and i can start the application, can find my samba, can play the movies, but its like in slow-motion, 2 sec movement, 2 sec freeze. i searched if i had to enable hw acceleration, but could not find. i just presume the file i downloaded was compiled for a different device.
any help much appreciated
This is for the Pivos XIOS DS box but as far as I can tell its compatible with my ATV1000. Everything works using this firmware - mouse, keyboard etc and it is MUCH faster. Bootup is about 30 seconds and video playback is smooth at 720p. I have a problem if I set it to 1080p where is displays the image on about half the screen so I will stick to 720p for now.
Not being an expert with Linux I haven't got the T119 tuner stick working but the drivers are available on the Geniatech website. XBMC allows you to run all sorts of programs using its Advanced Launcher app.

HELP!!! Best way I can describe it is I have lost Professor Android. I did the update on my 3000 (was using an older version of ICS very well) rebooted got a "Red Android Logo", tried to restore the old image, it failed, now when I go to the Flash screen I get an Open Box and Andoid (instead of the professor looking android) it does the same dialog as the other update screen (reading image, flashing random offet etc) but nothing boots, I even tried reflashing back to good old GingerBread 201101.
Any suggestions or I have I completely bricked my box?

Hi wombat613, you can find "Professor Android" reinstalling previous SPI file
(that is previous uboot and recovery version).
This is the link: www.geniatech.com/down-eng/Androidtvbox/update_spi20111102.zip
Rename the file to update.img and install as usual (in recovery mode).
I just buy a Geniatech atv4000, I have android 4.0.3 version and my firmware are upgraded to build 20120730, last at moment. (I think)
I try to insert a 500Gb hard disk formatted ext3.
a pop up telling me that I can remove the device but do not see it mounted.
I checked with root explorer.
Formatted ntfs work correctly if I insert when device is already started but if I start with the hard drive already inserted remains stuck on Android logo and won't start.
After using the Geniatech ATV100 Android stick I would warn against anyone buying one of these;
* Firmware update does not work, no manual means of updating it.
* CPU is set to run at 600Mhz not 800Mhz advertised (some places even say 1Ghz).
* RAM is only 512MB RAM not 1GB as advertised
* Android ICS that runs on it is very slow.
Quite disappointing compared to the Allwinner based Android sticks.
thanks isanders50 for ur link. installed the update and every think works fine. i would suggest every one that uses the box for watching video (hd multimedia player) to try the update. well, its not an update to the android, its a new firmware, but u can still install addons (youtube, browser, etc). xbmc fixed many issues i had with android, so its worth a try.
i have just put the xbmc on my enjoy tv box, i applied it as an image, but yes it works brill, and i am amazed at it, but how do i go back to the original ics os, as it always boots up into xbmc

You will need to do panic recovery (using the pinhole at the bottom of the unit).

yep! logitech c270 (hd) and c210. look at sticky to see how to find will camera work or not.
but, as camera resolution is higher, picture will be slower and box generally will be slower in response. i bought 270 just for box, but that was so slow, and then bought "weaker" model 210 and now it works well. not VERY well, but works.
Hello Folks.
I am using Android 4.02 and connecting 2x2TB HDD's to it.
The drives are alwas labeled as mnt/sda1/ or mnt/sdb1/.
Depending on which order I connect them, the label will change for each drive.
When the drives are connected to a Windows 7 laptop, the drives are called (my choice) primary and secondary, that never changes, even with a different drive letter.
Is there any way of labeling the drives in the same way in Android?

Thanks for the quick answer. The sticky mentions webcam support for android 2.3. Do you use the webcam with 4.0? Should I revert to 2.3 to be able to use webcam? Any chance with 4.0? the system recognized the microphone of C260 (my webcam comes out to be this model i guess), but no chance with image. Actually after quick check the pid of my camera does not coincide with that of the sticky. So i think i should try with exact models (c270 etc.)
Thanks for help

i'm using it with 2.3. i'm even didn't try to install ICS because ICS simply doesn't work good with 512mb ram. and, for purpouse i bought it, GB is simply enough.
about ICS and (not) recognizing camera. based on expirience with 2.3, and continously crashing camera app, i simply tried few different camera applications and finaly founded that "quick snap" is very small, free, rudimentary app, but works like a charm. of course, i do not expect some HD pictures or picturing landscapes or something like that. lower quality picture for video chat is quite enough. and, back to topic, it seems that original camera app from 2.3 simply couldn't wake camera up. but that is solved in later verions, but still, no need for it, that quick snap is quite enough.
try that - cost you nothing!
The Following User Says Thank You to vikidroid For This Useful Post:
Hi,
Actually i picked up a c270 also, but no chance. quicksnap does not work either (crash). so i could not get a c270 or 260 to work with ics. i am satisfied with ics performance, so i doubt i will go with the 2.3 route. thanks for help.
hm, that must be problem with ICS. 270 & 210 works on GB. as i wrote before - 270 laggy, but 210 ok. so, you must try with some other app. maybe quicksnap is not addapted for ICS. or, if video talk is really important to you, think about reverting to GB.
