Step by step i'll try some things. The problem, I still don't have the SATA HDD for test. Anyway can play from an external 2.5 USB HDD and also from a USB memory stick.

Very good for its price. Though the company claims 1Ghz, its firmware is able to generate 600Mhz (this can be tweaked to 800mhz) with setcpu, ofcourse you need to be rooted as mentioned by tatubias above.
The RAM is 189MB thought the claim is 512MB.
Another drawback is that, though it has a coaxial audio out for 5.1 RAW output, there is no hardware support. Coaxial only outputs PCM downmix even for DTS & Dolby Digital videos. I have not been able to check this with HDMI as my AV receiver does not support HDMI.
Firmware does not support storage control which means you still cannot install apps on SD card. The apps are getting installed on its internal memory of 2GB.
Have not got much time to fiddle around too much. The audio and video qualities are excellent, no lags even with huge files. Decodes almost anything, lots of video player apps are available for download though I find the default app is good enough.

Yes i have realize thisand i did testit.did not have confirmation from measy if it any issue to overclock to 800mhz. i did tested some days and did not have any issue.

There is no formatting option in the default firmware.
So unless we can install clockworkmod it is not possible to partition the SD card.
However one way out is to partition the SD card in your PC and put it back in the player, then it should work.
I prefer Link2SD to a2sd.

I have been to the pinoyDVD site where you have given lots of useful info. However I am not able to register as it asks for some 3 questions in a differenet language which I am not able to answer. Any way out to register on pinoyDVD.
I finaly did install the Samba server. it is realy easy to implement the only issue by the moment is that the file sharing is only thought wifi and not network. i will be sending an email to the developer so they can update the software so file sharing is done thought ethernet.

I have installed Z4root this application does root your Measy x7 Mediaplayer. this is a very good news. due we can install much more applications.
When you click to root your device it provides you 2 options:
a) temporary root
b) permanent root.
i have done the permanent root. it takes about 5 minutes to do it. so be very very patient. Then the application says that is going to be rebooted.

UPDATE: i did install the following packages only and did worked perfect.
I have bought the Measy X7 HD media player recently.
Today I tried to upgrade the firmware V1026
I placed the update.zip file in the SD card and started the device.
Then I clicked on firmware upgrade link.
The device got rebooted and stucked at recovey mode.
The error message is
Android system recovery <3e>
E: can't mount /dev/block/cardblksd1
(invalid argument)
E: Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
and it keeps saying Can't mount /sdcard
As Tatubias says, do not panic. The flash ROM of Measy does not recognize SD card when it is loading firmware.
Format a pendrive in fat32 on yr PC & copy the update.zip to it.
Insert it in any USB slot of Measy X7, reboot and watch the fun.

By manual you need to format the pendrive in fat32. and works.
i did format in fat 16 to test and worked too.
you can do the update using the pen drive.
remember that when you want to install an app into the device will ask you for the SD to be installed on the device.

i have tested:
Video 1920*816 / 8,020 kbps did not have any issue no frame skipping.
Video 1920*1080 / 9,640 kbps did not have any issue no frame skipping.
and i did some other test of full hd at 8000kbs and did play it very smooth.
About the player there are a lot and you will need to download and test which is best for you here im posting some of the bests. the default media player is good but you cant tweek it very much.

how can i play a movie with subs (.srt / .mkv). i have tried with the same name, a MKV file and it didt work.

im testing now. yes it does play srt subtitles with an mkv file using the default player..
You need to put the srt with the same name as the mkv and when you open the file go to the ... option and then select the T icon and activate subtitles.
Also you can change color and size.

i dont know i did used a dongle that was provided with my device. and i connect it then i go the the settings menu. and then go to the wifi and enable it.

It has some realtek built-in proprietary drivers for wifi so will not work with market wifi dongles. I tried with three different ones but was not successful.
So it is better to order from Measy.

you will need to test other smb clients. the streaming depends on how they are configured.
the player does playback very well mkv 720p.
if you are streaming though wifi i think that you need a wifi N to stream hi definition movies though wifi. if not use Ethernet connector.
the player is not yet a out of the box solution. but measy is working to improve it.
here it is a not official firmware from measy. Deposit Files
you can test it. i have installed it and it works. i hope next month is the firmware out with all the updates i pointed out.
I have no problem with streaming even 1080p files from my network device to this player.
Try playing the file directly from within the player, if if runs without stuttering, then your network is slow.
@tatubias, not all realtek dongles work, it has to be hit and trial.
anyway I will check the one you mentioned in my local market.
also root and install setcpu and tweak to 800Mhz. Amoung governers, Interactive and SmartassV2 are the best but still not available in setcpout, ondemand gives stable performance without hanging.

I did used setcpu and works perfect. i did tested for 3 or 4 days and i did not have any issue i set it again to 600mhz because did never got confirmation from measy if the device will break if i used "overclocked" (dont know how it is built insised the device and how temperature is disipated.i did used on demand and it did gone well too.
There inside / it is the init.rc file iniede y ou can find tons of variables. i did not tested yet but you can see there how the cpu is set.
# set CPU scaling range, default is 200M~800M in M1 kernel:

This is an overlay problem. Normally the firmware should include settings for adjusting overlay problems. A kind of setting which will allow us to adjust image on the screen.
I hope Measy does this in its next upgrade. Tatubias can you add this to your requirement on firmware and send it to Measy.
Another drawback is that, though it has a coaxial audio out for 5.1 RAW output, there is no hardware support. Coaxial only outputs PCM downmix even for DTS & Dolby Digital videos. I have not been able to check this with HDMI as my AV receiver does not support HDMI.

do you know were is corrected this in the firmware? have you ever edited any firmware? i was wondering if modifying the files axes can correct the overlay.
have you ever modify the init.rc if you modify does correct issues during the boot?
When the movie is playing, click menu on the remote to go to language option. Switch language to AC5.1 or DTS whichever is available,
Please post back the results.
I played one 1080P DTS MKV Movie file. In the language menu "DTS" is selected by default. But my AV receiver is showing as PCM only. The same file when I played in my wdtv player correct DTS output is played.
I think measy x7 has no proper DTS output support.

send an email to support@measy.com.cn and ask for the update in the next firmware so they can work on this.
please any issue that you discover send emails to support@measy.com.cn so all little issues are fixed asap.
it woul be a good idea to make a list with all the fixes that are needed.
i was wondering if to you is happening the same to me. not all files / directory are shown sometimes. i have to start link 4 time to see all the files on the hard drive.

Hi, can anybody tell me which model of usb wireless keyboard and mouse is compatible with this product. I have a Microsoft keyboad and mouse compbo, but X7 doesn't recognise this. Wired keyboard and mouse are working superb.

technically any wireless mouse (2.4ghz) should work. i have a generic genius and work perfect.
try to get a keyboard and mouse that does not use DRIVERS. get a standard one.
dont use bluethooth devices.
flymouse is reported that works with the device too.
