hey stane! quick question...does this most recent release have uinput enabled in kernel? i want to be able to use the google tv remote service as well as droidmote server and they both rely on that function being enabled...so far this ROM rocks! any luck with getting netflix to work? i saw that artway released a new firmware for their androstick device that fixes netflix. also an amlogic device. any luck at all?
Quick answer: uinput is included in my roms, but hold on for hour or two, new release for c03ref (not beta) will be uploaded... chages:
- 1080 issue - fixed
- sdcard issue - fixed
- 3G dongle support - added for most of Huawei 3g USB modules with huge APN list preinstalled
- Newer version of Flash (released by Amlogic)
- New kernel sources, speed improvements, antutu benchmark about 2400 (on 720p)

Note for 3G dongles:
- data connection works, sending SMS works, receiving SMS doesn't work

Same problem as before...built in mic and mic port on c03ref don't work, but microphone on usb webcam does. is there any chance of getting the built in microphone working again? netflix is also still a no go. i think its time to abandon the c03ref version. no support anywhere. barely any support from amlogic for their newer stuff. i've been using allot of allwinner A10 stuff lately and it works pretty good.
Thx for the download link,is there any changelog about rev.2(f16ref)?
Hi,
at the moment there is no update for M3 board (f16ref). These days I was working on c03ref 'cause of issues with sdcard, flickering, 1080 resolution...
Now will move to f16ref, usb needs fixing and some other stuff...

Hi stane..i success upgrade my droid tv box using f16ref 07082012..but the problem is every i try turn on my wifi, its hang error..is it different wifi device ? My droid box is MP019..thanks for your time...
I'm developing firmwares for Visson products, ATV-108 c03ref and ATV-108 f16ref. c03ref and f16ref stands for platform used in device (c03ref - Amlogic MBX platform based on AML8726M chipset; f16ref - Amlogic MBX platform based on AML8726M3 chipset).
Every manufacturer of Android TV boxes can use different implementation of bootloader, different hardware, different partitioning... and my firmware is primary for Visson products mentioned above. It might work with other devices too, but I'm not supporting other devices and I'm sorry, but I cannot make and will not make firmwares for devices which I don't have.
Visson devices uses wifi module based on Realtek 8192CU wifi chipset. Driver for that chipset is installed by firmware. It's loadable kernel module driver (/system/lib/8192cu.ko and for f16ref also cfg80211.ko file). Amlogic ICS source tree is made that way it's not so simple when replacing wifi module driver because it's built by kernel and loaded by android system with much more config included than just insmod drivername.
I can assist you how to do some things, I can give you some pointers what to do in certain situations and I will try to help you to unbrick your device if bricked.
But you guys as users should be also be careful, if firmware is for c03ref then you cannot install it on f16ref. Also, I mentioned it cpl of times in this thread, if you are installing my firmware to any other device than Visson, use your original u-boot-aml-ucl.bin file instead of one packed with my fw... that way there are small chances you will brick your bootloader which is pretty hard to fix (at least on Visson f16ref device).
Hi Stane, do the last firmware include Flash ? Cause I dont see it as an installed application and Dolphin doesnt seem to be able to play them... do I need to download the one available on the webpage ?

Hi,
It's included in new_patch.zip file. If your system can't see it, something went wrong during firmware installation. Flash player on my download page is old one... Will replace it with new version, but for now it's old one
The Following User Says Thank You to stane1983 For This Useful Post:
Is there anyway to apply new_patch.zip file ? Because everything else works like a charm, so not sure how to check if that zip file was installed or not...
(Or maybe get a copy of the latests Flash to install it manually)
By the way, if new_patch install fails, what shoud I be also missing that I'm not aware ?
Thanks.

Hi there stane!
Good news: latest f16ref worked like a charm on my 'apparently' ATV-102 device!!! Don't know why Vission calls it that way.
Used a 256Mb SDCard!
New logo is 'v.play'. Will be giving feedback as parts are tested.
Thanks for great work, one beer under way!!!
Your work gets better and better. I'm not too good with android building but am pretty good with linux. Is there some advice you could give on how to add Ralink RT2870sta support or add it in to yours?
Hi stane
I am not able to use 3g dongle (Huawei e171) not even able to access apn list. When I connect the dongle the status bar shows "no Internet connection" also when I view the apn list it is completely blank or when I save a new apn it does saves but again starts showing the blank page.

Do you have mobile signal indicator on statusbar when you plug in your huawei dongle?
Another issue I forgot to mention... if sim is set to request PIN, it will not work. Workaround is to disable PIN request in some cellphone and put simcard back in 3g dongle.
Please check that and see if it works. 3G dongle support only tested and working with Huawei E1752, but should work with other huawei's dongles as well.

so my logitech c270 camera and microphone work in skype and camera app. but in skype, video chat only lasts for about 30 seconds before camera dies. light on the c270 goes out and it wont come back on until i unplug and replug..on board microphone and on board mic port does not work any longer. but usb microphones from webcams seem to work. netflix cannot even load the beginning red load screen. i started using allwinner a10 stuff for netflix compatibility cause amlogic cant seem to get their act together.

I do get the signal indicator on the status bar but it seems it has zero signal strength (because there is a small cross on the signal indicator)
The PIN request is already disabled as I never use them.
please stane we need root for this device and fix all problem in rom
thank you
Downloading the archive now, but basically I can't do anything about browser crashes or any other firmware bugs. To be able to do that I need actual device and board specification (bootloader...). Whoever compiled this code, downloaded corrupted amlogic sources released 20120710 (branch ics-amlogic-0702). Amlogic servers had some problems awhile ago.
Anyway, it should be AML8726M3 based Refee M6 product...

Hi to all, I am just new to this forum and have no idea if this will end up being read. I recently purchased a VS-ATV-102 from a China supplier and found it difficult to operate, found this excellent website and through trial and error managed to find out the model and other details, the supplier eventually pointed me to the new download of stane1983 firmware, BIG THANKS, but still experiencing major problems. Not sure how to post directly to stane1983, would welcome guidance. Regards to all.

I just sent PM to you.... I'm wondering who pointed you to me?
Hi, can someone help me identify what could be the problem why new_patch.zip file is not being applied ? Everything works like a charm, but I was missing flash installation and maybe other updates that were on that update....
Maybe I'm not doing something I should ? I just did the button trick to update (twice as recommended for this firmware) and after the firmware is installed I just did a clear cache and factory/defaults (I did this after the firmware update) and then, just reboot.
Should I have selected Apply Update or something else from the menu ? Or maybe do the factory reset and clear cache before applying the firmware ?
By the way, if new_patch install fails, what shoud I be also missing that I'm not aware ?

Don't do the factory reset. That action erases the files installed by new_patch
Whic is the best firmware to install on c03ref 's box?
Hello Guys, how are you ?
Thanks for all the information that you provided here. In an axcellent forum. Can anybody explain me which is the best firmware to install on c03ref box and which is the correct procedure to install?

MartinCC, in which update procedure you read that you need to do wipe data/factory reset after you install firmware?
Superuser, YouTube, Flash... that's all installed in userspace area. If you do factory reset, your userspace partition will be formatted and all data on it will be erased.

Mmmm.... interesting... So what now ? Do I reflash the firmware or is there another way to only do the update of those apps ?
By the way, before flash is it good to do a reset and wipe de cache at least ?

Hi, upgrade procedure wipes data and cache partitions. If you don't want to reinstall firmware, open new_patch.zip and extract apk files that are in /data/app folder inside new_patch.zip file. Put it to usb stick or sdcard and install them with AppInstaller.

Hi stane1983,
congratulation for Your firmware and for offering help to this community.
I've bought a GV-13, old version (c03ref). This is a clone of URAKU_T1
and looking on Your firmware, must be a ATV-108 (c03ref) clone too.
I've wood like to flash Your firmware on GV-13, but before I want to be sure that it work.
This may will help other users too (who has the GV-13 or Uraku T1).
1) The u-boot-aml-ucl.bin file of Yours is the same as for GV-13 (the size is equal and looking with a hex editor, there aren't any difference between them), but on the original firmware, that I have, it is called ubootwhole.img and is is located on the update.zip (c03ref120330m1_40p_120510_4ddr.zip, to be exact).
2)You do not flash the uboot (u-boot-aml-ucl.bin) with your firmware? Is that right?
Because on Your updater-script (update.zip\META-INF\com\google\android\), I can't find anything about.
On the original firmaware the updater-script is flashing the uboot, as on the following code of original updater-script:
...
format("mtd", "MTD", "ubootwhole", "0");
write_raw_image(package_extract_file("ubootwhole.i mg"), "ubootwhole");
...
3) Can You please post "cat /proc/mtd" of ATV-108, so I can control mine?
On my box (GV-13), the flash partitioning look like that:
#cat /proc/mtd" of ATV-108
dev: size erasesize name
mtd0: 01000000 00200000 "aml_logo"
mtd1: 01000000 00200000 "recovery"
mtd2: 01400000 00200000 "boot"

Try to do what I did with my TV Box recognized as c03ref in the same situation:
I also applied the last upgrade with the same sad result. All attempts to continue the 2nd pass from SD Card appeared to be useless. Just green light and no changes in more than 1 hour. Then I assumed that the SD issue might not been fixed for my model and the 2-nd pass now cannot find files for upgrade. I checked the card and found that the files from there had been deleted. I wrote them again, but it did not help. The box remained in coma. Then I inserted the SD Card with firmware upgrade to USB Card Reader, connected the reader via USB and restarted the device. It took around 15 minutes after restart and I saw the "android" sign which later on was followed by system start and setup.
Try to do the same and write back here if it will also help you in order to inform the others who might also have had some issues with the upgrade.
My device initially had pre-installed Android 2.3 system and it was slow and always failed to read properly some video formats and all *.iso files. It also failed to accept installation opf most of software.
Now it is fliying like a jet fighter, it is reading everything, it is accepting installation of any software, but it does not want to see SD Card and the remote control is working only for switching on and off. The rest of buttons are not working, but I am using a wireless mouse and a USB Hard Drive and I am happy with the results of the upgrade.
ONE NOTE - this is true for no-Visson models and it will be also useful to insert both SD Card and UDisk with the same content while updating. Upon restarting some models may load recovery from SD Card.
Dear Stane, thanks a lot for your great firmware! I bought this box in order to use it as a media player and it is working perfectly for that task now reading even *.iso files and decoding very fast any videos. Nevertheless I`ll be even more grateful if you will give a hint how to initiate back the SD card and the remote in its full functionality. Maybe, I will have to download 2.3 firmware and to install some drivers from there? If it is not possible, just forget it. I will never neither downgrade for 2.3 nor install the official Android 4 firmware because yours is a masterpiece - fast and friendly except some minor (for me) bugs.

Hi,
Yes, I saw that there are no visible menuitems in that dialog. Do you have IR remote? If so, when you're in position to save access point, push Menu button on your IR remote. Menu with Save option will pop up in the right bottom side of screen.

Hi stane1983, Had a chance to play with the new software update, both from the supplier and from you. Your software works better in that it is more stable, but still my original problem remains where any connection to my Lan makes my modem go loopy after about a minute and I loose my broadband. The new software also kills my WiFi, it just sits there with a "switching on WiFi" message. I can play all my video files from a USB drive or stick but can't check the Lan part until I find out if I have faulty hardware or software and find a repair or replacement. At the moment the box is dead, I tried to update with an empty SD card and now nothing happens when I switch on, just the red and blue leds. Would that cause the problem or do you think the box may have died.
PS I changed the info on the previous post to VS-ATV-102, my mistake,
I think I asked this before, but is there a difference between a 102 and a 108?
Thanks again for all your help
Kind regards
