I think it'd take a long time to beat out facebook, just like facebook beat out myspace, but it seems to have the tools to do so. I requested an invite last night, so I'm hoping I get it, as I got a CR-48 and Google Music Beta
I tried Facebook for 6 months or so because my friends were so insistent. I really dislike it. I have an Issue with their privacy breaches and policies. I deleted it in March. It was too much work for too impersonal relationships.
I have Twitter now which is less of a chore. I will try Google+ if it's not too involved. I actually like Google Buzz.
I'm tiring of all this social media stuff. It has some advantages and usefulness but for keeping in touch it seems to be making things more impersonal.
I'm more Inclined to send a personal email, call or video call, and visit when I can. Using FB gave me a false sense of staying in touch. Hopefully Google does it better. If not, I'm out.
About 60-70% of the tech news yesterday was flooded with reports on Google+, it's actually amazing if any of us mere mortals made it in at all. The major players were all brought in to ensure that they could report back on what is being done, and I have to admit... for somebody who strongly dislikes Facebook, it looks pretty interesting.
The one thing that everybody needs to keep in mind when comparing the two is that Facebook has been around for just over 7 years now. They've had a long time to build, adapt and learn (and in some cases, ignore). Google+ can build on that experience, yes; but they're still brand new fresh out of the nursery.
Did anyone get an invite for Google plus?? have you tried using it...If yes let me know how it is?? I have registered my email ID...waiting for an invite
Going through the tour,I could see that most of the features are similar to what is available in Facebook. Not sure what are the new features.. If they release an andorid app for phones & tablets it would be great!!!

Facebook has been nice for me in some ways. I have got back in touch with some long lost friends. Also found a couple of ex-girlfriends, LOL. They found me, in fact. However, it will be great to have a less public alternative like this.
I got an invite 2 hours ago and have not been able to sign in on the mobile app or do anything but preview the service from the web. What's up with that?

I've been waiting and hoping for one to appear in my inbox. If you've got any invites to send out can you shoot me one? vaflores at gmail dot com
They only had invites open for about an hour and then shut it down. Sounds like their servers got overloaded. Not sure when they'll make it available to invite again
I can't login. It keeps asking for the Security Question answer...
Actually one email account with access from many different IP's is suspicious activity. It's a Red flag and account will be closed in few hours I guess.
I got on ok. I think I invited myself, not sure. Was neat to try it out!
I shared a post with myself. And it didn't work. Then I tried again. This time I did not even receive the email notification.
Then I did the same using a second gmail account that I don't use much. And this time it worked. The problem is, the Android app is not even showing my second gmail account (which is also set to sync). The app only shows one account option - my primary account.
Well, I think I will just wait until the email invites are reenabled and try sending myself an invite.
(My other friends also tried sending email to my primary account but their emails also did not arrive)
I don't know! I added myself to the invite circle. I also made a post and shared it with myself. I got an email from that post. I am not sure if that Invited me!

You have to follow the link, the big red one, and that should take you to a brief setup page. Thats how I got in, although not on the account I wanted.
When I click on that it just says remind me. Then under that something about being closed for Invites. Boo.
I guess they closed that avenue as well.
They say invites will be enabled soon. That word should be banned for any customer service or management's vocabulary.

A friend of mine invited me last night. I have no clue what it really is though. I'm not on FB (tried it once, didn't get it). I guess I need to spend some time playing with it. I'm in, but I don't see yet what I can do with what I've got.
I wouldnt trust google they have a lot of flaws, I remember when they had a lot of problems with their gmail and the online version of word document and such, googles people were reading and looking at other people personal info, and allowing other people to do the same, whose to say that once their version of social networking isnt an attmept to see what everyone of their memebers is doing and look at personal information and use it against us in some way
