Question Google Latitude mobile app

Is it me or did anyone notice that the Google latitude app has been removed from device and the Google Play store? Seems as though this happened right after the Google Maps update. I wonder why??

Latitude is still available when you access it via Maps. I'm thinking Google felt it was redundant to have a stand alone app or maybe they have plans to revamp and will release it to better compete with foursquare?

How many of you use latitude to check into venues?

It's still there, it's just in the Maps app now instead of a standalone app. I use it ocassionally.

Sorry, my lack of ability to read beyond 4-5 words bites me again.

I wish they would make latitude as a separate app. When I'm traveling, latitude often crashes my google maps. I wonder if it has some issues with international roaming, and stuff.
