Streaming media to your HDTV?

I was looking forward to the hdmi out to hook up to my tv but now I see this device is DLNA capable. I also see my tv Panasonic Viera Plasma V10 has this option as well. Can anyone explain how this works and how I can set this up? I'm hoping you guys have experience with DLNA. For some reason I thought DLNA was only available to Samsung TVs.

For some reason, I thought DLNA was only available on Sony TVs. lol... and I have a Samsung. When they announced that it will have DLNA technology, I was like "Great... am I going to have to buy an overpriced Sony TV now?"

There are sets from Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, and Pioneer that are DLNA certified. It wouldn't work directly with any TV, but if you have a set top box that will detect a DLNA media servers on your PC, like a 360 or PS3, then you would be also be able to take advantage of streaming to your TV.

If I wasn't clear, the DLNA capability of the X will allow you to stream media directly from your PC to your phone (just like you can do with a few game consoles and a few other devices). So, if you don't have one of these devices connected to your tv or don't want to use it, and if your TV has an HDMI port, then you can leave an HDMI cable plugged in (or buy the new X media dock they will be selling), and just connect your X to the HDMI cable and whatever you're streaming from the PC to your X will show up on your TV. I stream a lot of stuff, so I find this quite invaluable, even just to stream video or music to the phone and watch or listen anywhere in the house. Awesome!!

Yes, from the phone to the TV as well, but only if you have a DLNA certified/capable TV. Wouldn't make much of a difference though since most TVs aren't very portable. It would seem to be just about as easy to make the connection whether you have your phone in the same room so it streams via wifi to your TV or you connect it directly to the TV via HDMI. Again, if you don't have a DLNA tv, it's not a big deal since you can still connect the phone to the TV, and the X and the PC can communicate wirelessly to stream the content from your PC to your phone and show the content from your PC or your phone on your TV via the HDMI connection. If you have a laptop with HDMI you could of course just connect that to the TV, but by using the phone you have a much smaller device to place and connect, and if you have a desktop PC or don't want to move your laptop you can still stream to the TV (provided you don't already use a PS3, 360, or other DLNA device already connected to your TV).
