Accessories Micro USB pinout

Anything you're trying to do in particular ?

Trying to get some lightbulbs flickering.

Seems like the phone can punch out Video using the micro USB so I'm thinking the wiring is in place.

I really want to see if the phone can emulate a ipod so I can or someone can come up with some kind of cable so it can plug it into the numerous ipod things I have at home.

The bad part is the phone itself has to be software modded as there is no video option when plugging in the USB cable.

Already tried it on my Kenwood DNX5120 DVD car deck. It plays my music when I set it to act like a hard drive. Would be all and good if all I wanted to do was play music but would like it do do the videos too. Might be the type of file since the Kenwood specs say it plays mpeg video and doesn't mention the MP4. Gotta try that one.

Found a link on Google of a guy making a ipod dock for his Droid. Was good info but it only did music and he still had to use the 3.5 mm jack.

The goal I wanna see is Android phones emulating ipods and just plugging it into the dock like a ipod can.

That way we can have the best of both worlds.

How's that sound?

It sounds awesome; also sounds like you the makers of the OS need to support the theory a little better.

I just doubt they can pull it off anytime soon.

Well if Google wants a run at Apple they should be doing this now.

The smartest thing for Apple is to start selling on all carriers then everyone will just give up and jump on the Apple bandwagon and Google will be behind.

But I have a feeling it's not Apple's choice especially after seeing all the players at the Droid X intro yesterday.

I love it!

You guys aren't listening to me. Video out does not go through the traditional USB connection. There are a set of recessed pins that require a custom connector to pick this connection up. It in no way, shape, or form relies on the usb standard connector. You're only gonna see this connector on the A/V cable due out at the beginning of July. OR you can take a stab at making a custom connector yourself.

I know it's a phrase that's beaten to death, but, really, search is your friend. Check out this thread for the info you're looking for:
