720p Comparison: Evo 4G vs. iPhone 4 (Side-by-Side)

Of course the iPhone wins. We have crappy codecs.

i wonder if the xda devs can modify the codec used.

The iPhone's video quality is obviously a lot better. It is REALLY nice. But not enough to make me want to switch to AT&T. It would take A LOT for me to switch to AT&T.

i'm with you on that. left ATT and never looking back.

Anybody want to show a video of someone on there EVO using 3G or 4G having a video call with someone at home on skype and then try making the same video using an iPhone.....

Anybody want to go for a drive and with an AT&T phone and a Sprint phone for 15 minutes and then see who's call is still going on and who's call has dropped......

Anybody want to show the EVO's huge screen next to the smaller then my TP2's iPhone4 screen.

Anybody want to compare the widgets on my home screen with the widgets on the iPhone4's home screen?

Anybody want to compare the true multi tasking of android next to the iPhone4's mutlitasking?

Anybody want to compare streaming video using both networks and see which comes through better with less load time?

In the end, I will take the extra and better features the EVO has and live with the subpar camera for now.

I can deal with the slightly washed out colors of the Evo's video, what it really needs is a better bitrate.

You can tell it most obviously when the camera moves. Motion capture is about as bad as it can get on the Evo. Sad really, HTC should be ashamed. Don't tout the HD recording as a feature and then have it come out looking worse than a fisher price toy camera.

From what I understand, the iphone has a back illuminated sensor which does much better in low light. However, from the initial scene, the EVO looks washed out so it's not really a fair comparison. Maybe stop it down a bit and then see. Would probably help out with the gain and or frame rate and make a much better image for comparison.

I can't make a judgement wothout seeing the settings used in taking the videos. Look at your EVO software video settings and you will see many choices for resolution, white balance, focus and more. Still, the only use for a cell phone camcorder is for spontaneous recording.
Plenty of settings, but none that will actually improve the poor framerate of the video ;)

Evo has a back illuminated sensor too.

However, because the size of the sensor is similar but there are less individual pixels, the iPhone has a larger pixel pitch than the Evo resulting in potentially better low light capabilities.

I didn't realize the EVO had a back illuminated sensor. Cool. What are the resolutions of the two cameras. I though they were the same?
